Wow! That stuff is incredible!
Cannot see all the pics, john.could you post them again??
I may be 22 years old but I like to think I have the mind of a much younger person (5 or 6 if I had to guess). If I had the choice of any of these programs to watch I might say that I would choose (in watch preferencial order) 1. He-hog 2. The Heart-aches and finally 3.(not much use for that number considering I already said finally) Wally Man. The main reason for Wally man being at the bottom may be that I'm not initially attracted to characters that are sausage like Fred Mertz's. But then again I'm not a youngun or even cool for that matter. So my opinion my be irrelevant. In all truth if I heard there was a cartoon by the creators of Ren and Stimpy I would probably watch it regardless.
John, i think you would have to delete this post and made it again. There are problems with the THE HEARTACHES pictures and with the first pictures. Also the Wally man picture cannot be seen in full size.I think you could solve the trouble making the post again.just tryin' to help ya.
This post appeared before the previous one. Weird. Many people are probably not even seeing this! I just noticed it now.
All well done, but "The Heartaches"
some of these images aren't working :(
there are 6 images, right?
Wally Man is positively intriguing and beautiful. What is he, a thumb? Whatever he is, it's spectacular. He-Hog looks really fun, and if I was a girl I'm sure my heart would race for the Heartaches~ They're far better idols for girls than those crazy Bratz things or Puffy Hamasaki or whatever the hell it is.
man love those characters hehe they looks insane chek this out mr k http://www.deviantart.com/view/29498188/
Yeah, I see six pictures and it seems like there are four more 'broken' ones. Not all six are clickable though. John, the date of that post is wrong, that makes it appear in the wrong place.Anyway I guess it doesn't take a genius to see that most girls will fall in love with the Heartaches. I'm not a kid but I'd pick Wally Man and Buster Hog. He-hog would probably be great too, but he is less weird than the other ones, thus making me less curious.
I'm really loving Wally Man and Dimbulb Duck. What's the deal with The Heartaches; They look like a real moneymaker, shouldn't you be busily exploiting these little girls?!
Yeah, somethings wrong here.......and I'd pick He-Hog if I was still a lad.
i'd go with the Heartaches. Just because I'd like to se a girl's tv show done spumco-style.
dimbulb duck and that litle pig look awesome and HE HOG just awesome there a pilot of He hog right?
>>there are 6 images, right?yes. 6 great images. there are also 4 "red x"s.and the wally man image has no big version.
Image 1: Red X, No TitleImage 2: He-Hog, Works fineImage 3: Heartaches, Works fineImage 4: Heartaches, Works fineImage 5: Red X, Title: Childrens CD Cover WorkingImage 6: Red X, Curly Fleece PoodleImage 7: Wally Man, No enlargementImage 8: Buster and Dimbulb, Works fine
ooe arregla tu weaaa
While we're on the subject of little read crosses there is another one in the 'Calling All Cool Girls' post. The image that should be there is named 'ariessheet1'.
My vote's for The Heartaches, despite what will inevitably be a flood of comparisons to the PPGs. But then I'm a 38-year-old male with no visible means of income. What do I know?(I also wouldn't mind seeing The Man Of Next Thursday and his cat again...)
Holy crap! Why don't we have pigs in animation anymore? I want pigs!
Holy moly! How did I miss this post!? Was this posted after the comic post? How did it end up before it? MAN, I need to start paying better attention! That action painting of He-Hog is totally awesome! I really want to see this show. It would be so friggin' cool! It looks like so much fun!! Show us the story idea you would use to pilot this show!! More He-Hog art!Ahh... the Heartbreakers are back... They were really neat too. I'm interested in seeing how you would handle this show (as it would probably be a little different than the stuff you're known for). There'd be lots of rocking out. Everyone loves to rock out!I bet the networks didn't put "Wally Man" on TV because he's "naked", eh? What's this show all about? That character cracks me up!Dimbulb Duck is absolutely hilarious! I used to have a pet duck (up until last December). She was 13 years old! That's old for a duck! I love ducks.Man, your childrens cartoons look really awesome, not old because they'd be funny, but because they look FUN!Wonderful post, pal! =)
I love them all! Can you share some Wally Man stories?
That's it,John :Image 1: Red X, No TitleImage 2: He-Hog, Works fineImage 3: Heartaches, Works fineImage 4: Heartaches, Works fineImage 5: Red X, Title: Childrens CD Cover WorkingImage 6: Red X, Curly Fleece PoodleImage 7: Wally Man, No enlargementImage 8: Buster and Dimbulb, Works fine If you could correct it, we would appreciate it.Anyway, I love He Hog
Felt in love for He Hog!
Dimbulb Duck reminds me a lot of Goosey, the one-shot character used by Clampett in " Porky's Party".Were you inspired by him,John?
please tell us more about He Hog. Looks terrific!!!!!
I remember the Heart-Aches from the old Navy commercials, I'd like to know more about them.
He Hog !!!
wow more amazing stuff here John. It's a good thing I scrolled down though since this newest post doesn't appear at the very top of the page. I wonder why?Anyway I have been dying to see the He-Hog animatic for Oh so many years after hearing nothing but raves about it by those lucky few priveleged bastards who were fortunate enough to have seen it. This idea in particular has always sounded incredibly appealing to me. I am also intrigued to learn more about this Wally Man feller and how he fits into the whole younger audience thing... So I'm assuming frederator passed on your pitch then? For SHAME...And while I may not in fact be 8 years old... I certainly have the same mental capacity and sense of humor as most of the tykes, so maybe that counts for something with these big wig executive types?
I want to know more about He Hog and the duck!-Giulio
1) The Heartaches - rock-band cartoons are always fun2) He-Hog - awesome concept!3) Wally Man - looks like it could be the most interesting of the three
More about He hog, please!-Daniele
I HAVE THE UNMITIGATED GALL!!!!!
oooe JOHNNY BOY AREEGLA SA WEAAAAA Y PON MAS HE HOG !!!
Hey, does anyone know any kids you can show theese to?Sorry for the technical glitches. I can't figure out how to fix them without making a worse mess!John
I don't have little kids in my house, but in my opinion, of the pictures I can see: Hehog looks hilarious and full of classic Spumco wit and charm, Wally Man looks really weird...but still cool (is he a thumb?) and the Buster Hog/Dimbulb Duck one looks terrific too. As for The Heartaches...I suppose it would appeal to little girls, but for the love of god, PLEASE don't stoop to sickeningly sappy cute kiddy rock bands...the other shows look so much more creative! Today's youth is already corrupted by too many syrupy cute "lovable" characters!!!Maybe I'm just being a jerk, though.~Josh
>>As for The Heartaches...I suppose it would appeal to little girls, but for the love of god, PLEASE don't stoop to sickeningly sappy cute kiddy rock bands..well, that show's for girls and it's not as sweet as it looks. They don't solve crime or anything, but the show makes fun of boys and has lots of wacky stuff in it.But yes it is meant to look cute. I tried to upload the funny looking characters from the show but it wouldn't take them for some reason.
John K said :Sorry for the technical glitches. I can't figure out how to fix them without making a worse mess!just make another post, posting only the pictures that cannot be seen here! That would have to solve the trouble and you could also save all the comments in here! Also, please do post the other pages of the George comic story.
>>well, that show's for girls and it's not as sweet as it looks. They don't solve crime or anything, but the show makes fun of boys and has lots of wacky stuff in it.Ok. I trust you.
Love it, love it, love it ( speaking of He Hog, do not care about the girls..)
Hey, doesn't anybody know any kids? These shows are for juniors, not middle aged bald guys like me!I wanna show some execs that kids want these shows.I foyu know some, show them the pics and tell me what they say, ok?Thanks,Crusty Man
I've send the link fo the blog to my little cousin ( 10 years old) and he told me he loves He Hog, he likes the little pig and the wacky duck ( to use his own words) and does not care at all about the girls' series.
I have four children in my humble abode, three boys ages 9, 7, and 4, and one 5year old daughter. All four of them loved the idea of HeHog, especially my 7 and 9 year olds, both claimed they'd sit and watch every episode were it made. The 9yo said he also liked Buster Hog and Dimbulb Duck, but said that he probably wouldn't watch The Heartaches cuz it looked to "girly", to which my 7yo agreed. My daughter on the other hand said that they were her favorite out of all the stuff I showed her. The youngest one didn't really seem to care one way or another on any of them, he seemed to like them all. None of them seemed too interested in Wally Man. Now me personally, I'd watch anything made by Spumco, but I've been sold since Ren and Stimpy first hit the airwaves.
He Hog seems to have the most wide ranging appeal and still retain that John K magic. The Heartaches looks like another Cartoon Network dud. Wally Man and His Impediments looks absolutely hilarious, but would a younger audience get it? Would their parents even let them watch it? Those impediments look a lot like scrotums.
BTW, there are kids in my house, but they're not home right now. Also, I love the pig and the duck. Hoimen!
hey john,i got was lucky enough to see a he-hog animatic while i was in college, and i have to say that it was hilarious! i would luve to see the full cartoon.BILL
I know im a guy and im not exactly a kid(14) but i have to say that the heartaches cartoon looks really cool.He-hog looks ok too.
ok John,I asked my little sister who is 8 years old what she thought of yuor cartoons on a scale of 1 to 10.wally man got a 1he hog got a 5and the heartaches got a 10!!!so she pretty much feels the way i do.I hope that helps and good luck!!!
Ok,and my 16 year old sister said the exact same thing,we are all in unisen.I know shes not a kid either but i would think that its more accurate imput than that of a 40 year old man.hahahahaha not like i have anything against 40 year old men(my dads one)
My brother said that He Hog rules and the girls stink ( sorry! I'm only reporting his thoughts! It is not my opinion !)
I don't have any kids, much to my mother's displeasure. But since I'm still a man-child I can say that I find He-Hog very appealing! I like super-hero parodies and the characters look funny. I still have a He-Hog pitch book that my friend stole for me when he worked at MTV. Don't worry, he found stashed away somewhere years it was sent to MTV.Everything else looks cool too, but He-Hog seems to have a lot of immediate potential for hilarious stories and crazy super-villains.
He Hog was one of the shows you pitched alongside Ren and stimpy 15 years ago, right? That one looks the best
John K - the unspellable genius. Ren & Stimpy were compulsory TV viewing for me in early '94 here in the UK. I'm probably very very thick, but where are the R2 DVDs of "The Best of..."??? I'm telling everyone about your blog. I think the US Government should commission you to do a huge cartoon sculpture in Monument Valley.- Shaun Spock
Well Mr. K, I have 2 sons (9 and 11) who really like the super pig. my oldest calls him "hot hog."My oldest son likes "Wally Man" He wants to know the main problem the character faces in the story. They both liked "Dim Bulb Duck." They think he'd do alot of weird things.I run a day care out of my home so I see every thing on every cartoon channel. (I'm lucky to have the excuse to watch). I like the cartoon shorts, I think they're called doodlez. But i'd like to see more of the girl group the heartbreakers. There needs to be more cool chicks on t.v. Both my boys like Ren and Stimpy the best out of all the cartoons on right now. Awe, ain't that sweet?
Okay, Mr. K, my daugter who is 10 has given her opinion... She loves the heartbreakers, and says she wants to know what the pieces of skin with faces are all about??She also added that if she's see's another episode of jimmy neutron or danny phantom she's gonna go postal. Did I mention she's 10 going on 25??
So I showed my little brother and he thought that Wally Man was his favorite.Wally Man: One kid wants to see him!
Please try to post repost the pics that didn't show up so that we can see them :)
i showed the drawings to my 7 year ol cousin and loved them he laugh his ass off , and he ask me do u have cartoons of those guys in your computer and i said nope not yet hehe
REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST
Wanna watch He Hog on Tv !!
>>Okay, Mr. K, my daugter who is 10 has given her opinion... She loves the heartbreakers, and says she wants to know what the pieces of skin with faces are all about??Pieces of skin with faces!!! Can I use that?Your daughter is my hero!John
These drawings are sick! I love He-Hog's style, that's my favourite, and I can't wait to see the pilot! "Wally Man and his Impediments" is probably the most quagged up title for a cartoon ever! The Duck character looks like he'd be great for 7 minute golden age style gag cartoons, and The Heartaches are really cute! They look like the kind of shows for little girls that don't teach them to be whores, like BRATZ. Thumbs up on these!I feel the need to use peanut butter as an umbrella...
I think the idea of a music show for kids centered around GOOD music is a painfully terrific idea. Be it for girls or whatever.
Oh and as for kids liking something or not...with the right marketing kids'll watch anything...I'm sure there are plenty examples.
the heartaches are well drawn (i love the jazz background, goddamn) but i think it'd take some real good writing to go with those images to make a really memorable show. wally looks like it has the potential to be hilarious. maybe combine the last two sets into a larger concept show.. i'd watch it.
Cool!!!!, what type of things does Wally Man get up to? Where does he live?
wally always reminded me of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2
As a (young man pretending to be a) kid, I will give you my extremely valuable opinion!Go for Dimbulb Duck, that is seriously the funniest character I've seen on this page! I love spastically retarded mallards, especially if they have scholiosis!
john, these are killer. he-hog is so good. is there anyway I could see a larger image of that pic where he-hog is sitting on that chicks lap.. that picture looks sooooo cool, i just wish it was bigger. keep up the incredible work, youre the man.-brett
Girl cartoons are always so bad! I think it would take some one like you (and Katie if she is helping!) to make a proper cartoon aimed at women. Female characters are completely underused, and when they do get used, almost all of them are commercialized toy sellers. He Hog looks really great to. Good super hero cartoons are also slim these days, whats happened to T.V., it is a shame. I grew up watching Johnk K cartoons, and every one of them he was involved were amazing. So big corperate executives, look to him for your next big show!
Love the Heart-aches!!!
Even if i'm not a kid anymore I would watch He Hog..does this count?
Wally Man's innuendo makes it the top choice for me, the Heartaches could only work if they decked males, had distanced romantic relationships, and generally sucked at their music but thought they were pros. Therein lies the diversity of their mission statment, to sell out the crowd, whilst not realising that they first have to learn to play an instrument,Then they'd be like every other female performer out there
HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG!HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG!HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG!HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG!HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG! HE HOG!And Im 35 years old.
Love the character sketches---especially when they're rough.
I remember seeing HeHog in an Animation Magazine waaaaay back in 1990. It was on a page ripped out of the magazine and tacked up in Miles Thompson's cubicle at CalArts!! I've been wanting to see this show ever since! Little ones, hell, I WANT THESE SHOWS!!!!!
Sure, Mr. K. Any thing 4 u.(Re: Pieces of skin w/faces).
I hate to g\brust your bubbles, but He-Hog looks and reminds me too much of the Classic Comix character: "Wonder Wart-Hog"
bah, no way, nothing like wonder warthog.
The Kid in me says HE Hog The Atomic Pig...but my Daughter. really likes THE HEARTACHES...Jason
Wow - "The Heartbreakers" are fab! I think that this has the potential of being an excellent cartoon - this could be something that could FINALLY give young girls a positive image. This could probably be produced by a PBS station if there is an education spin in the plots (music, perhaps?). I do know a few people who work for my local PBS station, and I can ask them what needs to be done.
Dimbulb all the way
well after the whole Hanky thing, you just know people will bring up Wonder Warthog. Gilbert Shelton isn't going to be unknown artist for long, once the The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers movie is release. So I am just saying...
Welcome to the blogger front page! :)R2K
i love the pigs and ducks.. (is that duck an aaron springer drawing?)
Buster Hog and Dimbulb Duck looks the funniest.
My nether regions ache for a He-hog cartoon! And by god, I want to see some more Dimbulb Duck. He reminds me of that goofy duck from Porky's Party. John, you could take a dump on a piece of paper and I would watch it.
I work with about 125 kids from first grade to fifth and I had actually painted a picture of He-hog and showed it to them late last year. Their response was unanimous, they loved him (though they thought I was copying Duck Dodgers for some reason when I showed it to them).
got 2 votes for HE HOGsweet stuff Mr. K.
Isn't Gilbert Shelton's "Wonder Warthog" ALSO a superhero pig dressed almost entirely in green? And is the villain in the center of the "He-Hog" character sheet supposed to be reminiscent of "Underdog" heavy Simon Bar-Sinister? 'Cos he kinda has that "feel" about him...Just trying to steer you clear of another "Weekend Pussy Hunt" VS "Mr. Hanky" situation, big guy...
Heartaches, please!!!I need some decent shit to watch with my daughter.
Hey Tits,I will give some Heartaches to you and your loved one real soon.Gimme her opinion!Make her bring her friends over and show them all our girl cartoons, ok?Your pal,John
My girlfriend's niece (6)loves the Heartaches - I showed her an old VHS tape I had made off the TV of the origianl Old Navy cartoon ad - but she thinks Wallyman character looks like a sweet potato or yam, or (as she giggled out loud saying this), "a stinky boo-boo!". I love all your stuff, of course, I'd watch 'em all.
go to hell, spam-bot!Hey, I just realized that girl from the Heartaches was not only in the old navy commercials, but also in the quisp web ad!
hey john, iam an independent 2d and 3d animator from tucson, iam attanding the art center design college i'll be down in a year or so, i'am great with character design and facial expressions my roommate and i have working on our own animated series since 03. I would love to show you some concept drawings and story ideas..i think you'll be pleased..you created a monster! well if theres any way i could send you some drawing direct to you that would be great. if your interrested you get a hold of me on my email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
These cartoons look great, especially He-Hog, it should be good to see some decent animation again.
I don't like defining any cartoon as a "Kids show" or an "Adult show"Hell, that's essentially what started Animation's downfall.
All these shows look pretty cool, even though I can't see some of the images.I might like to know some more about them...
