Great, love the drawings. By the way everybody, if you haven't started tuning in already check out the 'animation podcast' http://www.animationpodcast.com/ Stellar interviews, great stories. Hope to hear Mr.Kricfalusi on there soon.
1. Jessica and Ashlee Simpson 2. Kiefer Sutherland 3. Carmen Elecktra and J-Lo 4. No idea.
Great drawing, as always, John.
Do you have any idea what happens to YouTube? I've been checking out all classic toons you've been referencing om this blog, and suddenly...poof! they're all gone!
haha Awesome drawings Hey Guys your not gonna belive this on Mtv latin America their showing the APC cartoons !!!!! they showed Upwards and onwards i was bouncing of the walls yesterday but it was dubed in spanish o well hehe
That Jessica and Ashlee Simpson has got to be one of the best caricatures I have EVER seen. They are both 100% spot on and appear to have been done in 20 seconds! Do you draw them as fast as they appear to have been drawn? Or is there a lot of pencil work in there rubbed out at the end? :) How many takes to get them that good?
>>They are both 100% spot on and appear to have been done in 20 seconds! Do you draw them as fast as they appear to have been drawn?
Wow. I wasn't gonna put that one up- cause I thought it looked rushed and unfinished. Sometimes when I do a caricature I'm not sure if worked, so it's good that you guys tell me which ones you recognize or not.
Most of them are done straight ahead in ball-point pen. So if I make a mistake, I'm stuck with it.
When I do parties I use bendable tip markers and have to be very fast. It's a good way to keep in practice 'cause everyone is watching you and you just get one chance per customer!
Drawing caricatures in public is actually more satisfying for me than animating, because you get instant reaction. Good and bad!
A quick questio a litlle out of topic: have you ever heard the spanish translation for the first 2 seasons? They are really outstanding, specially Ren... I mean, in english and with your voice they work formidable (the psycothic foreign accent tone of Ren -which reminds me of another question: what accent is the one he has?), but the translations are really a masterpiece... I first saw R&S in spanish and the voices were at least 35% of the hook for me... Anyone agree?
I'm so glad you drew ashlee simpson looking like a muppet, and i'm so glad david germain acknowledged it, because I've been complaining about how she looks like a hideous Fraggle Rock creature for a long time now.
I have a hard time seeing Kiefer as tough - I guess it has to do with seeing him falling down drunk a few times in Victoria. But, I guess if you've never had the good fortune of running into Kiefer pounding a few straight ones, then he'd still look pretty tough.
wow those are cool. I hope when keifer sutherland grows up he starts to wear a bushy white beard like donald suther... ha, those guys are both such goobers!
awesome drawings johnk, I wonder if you care to do a drawing of Toshiro Mifune?
I've always wanted to see a drawing of myself with George Liquor (I own George doll and snuggle with him regularly!) BTW, John, I love "Ren Seeks Help". People tell me when I get mad I remind them of Ren... :) http://www.sherapix.com

The Kiefer Sutherland drawing is perfect.
These drawings are great! You are my favourite cartoonist ever!
Hi Steffi,
thanks!
John
The Simpson gals look funnier & more dead on with each drawing. Awesome!
I'd love to see this show animated by Spumco. Heh heh heh....
I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the simpson sisters to be a little creepy. Great stuff!

That was great stuff. I loved that "tough guy" caption. Hilarious!

Very Nice. You should make an all pencil paper animated cartoon of your beautiful people and summit it to the web.
Like a Bill Plympton sort of thing, but made by you and Spumco.
As a suggestion.
That would be cool.
"...agreeing with what Arschblog said...
You are my favourite cartoonist ever..."
Yeah John, your my favorite cartoonist too.

Stellar work as usual, John!
Thanks for posting these hilarious caricatures. I'll never get tired of these beautiful people posts!
When I click on the last drawing, instead of getting a new window with a bigger image, I get a "devillady" Microsoft Word file! Is this just me?
yeah i get that word 2
Change the file type at the end of the name from doc to jpg and it will open properly.
See ya
Steve

It worked! Thanks!
I don't know how you did it, but you made Ashlee Simpson look like a damn Muppet. Nicely done. :)

My dog looks like the fraggle rock dog.
The Marcia Cross is stunning. Could you do her bald, too, like in that episode of Melrose Place where she rips off her wig? Creepy.
wow those are cool.

ha, those guys are both such goobers!
awesome drawings johnk,
I wonder if you care to do a drawing of Toshiro Mifune?
Is that Dave Coulier in the last shot?
Jonk- you should really ebay or sell these portraits- they rock- I would totally hang one up on my wall!
