WHO ARE WE?

* Sometime today I'm going to post the first in a series of articles all about where cartoon styles come from and how they evolved. I want to turn it into a book, but you will be able to read it here first, chapter by chapter.
If you are a cartoonist and want to understand your heritage and then control your own creative destiny, this is for you.

WOW IM THE FIRST ONE WOOOO AWESOME WORK man
That is a great Drew Barrymore!
Haha, Paris looks like a baboon.
She always looks like a baboon!
Wow... I can't get enough of these. I like the complementary triangle head theory going on down there with Nichole Kidman. The Drew Barrymore one is awesome, too.
Between these posts and the ones about George Liquor and Sody this is becoming one of my favorite net destinations.
And yes I'm telling all my friends but they're too scared to comment!
wow up to 15 already, nice job John i like that last one.

Nicole and Keith really "fit" together. Now if they'll stay together that will be something.
Haha I like Drew Barrymore it makes me happy in the pants.
whoah these are hard ones:
1. paris hilton, penelope cruz
2.
3. kate hudson, drew barrymore
4. nicole kidman, keith urban
5. tobey maquire, jerry seinfeld
Jorge, you have a good eye.
The second one is the toughest one.
Hint: They are movie stars, but dressed against their type for movies.
Yeah! Now that is a mammoth idea! I want to read the book on cartoon style origin. I'll even purchase it one day.
Must... glean knowledge... at any... cost!
I'd buy that book. Especailly if it was primary source reproduction heavy, well annotated, and well indexed.
Mr. John K., how comprehensive are you thinking of making the book? How long do you think it will be?
And have you put a proposal together to submit to publishers or are you nowhere near that stage yet?

Sounds great, I am looking forward to reading it here and I would buy the book as well.
"this is the funnest game in the whole wide world!" ...ya know, but said in Sven's voice.
I think the glasses on the guys in the second picture is throwing me off. Isn't the girl Katie Holmes? Maybe Matthew McConaughey on the right?

Great! I can't wait to read this.
Toby Maguire looks like Mr. Bean?
John K.
Have you ever been to any of Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Animation Festivals?
Jesse
I don't know if he's ever been to one, but the first place I ever saw an unedited version of "Big House Blues" was at Spike and Mike's TAF in Tempe, AZ. I also saw the unedited original cut of the first South Park episode (I forget the title, but Cartman gets an anal probe from Aliens in that episode) there.
Oh... and Paris Hilton IS a Baboon... at least in regard to her IQ.

a couple of the first ones.
Interesting fact:
Spike and Mike turned down the Ren and Stimpy pilot: Big House Blues, because it was too "mainstream".
Is the guy in #2 Tom Hanks?
I want the book NOW! :)
I like the way you draw pretty people as ugly, but I wonder if you can draw famous ugly people as beautiful and still recognizable?
I'll take a stab at the second picture:
James Earl Jones, Jodie Foster, & Richard Dreyfuss.
Spike and Mike turned down the Ren and Stimpy pilot: Big House Blues, because it was too "mainstream".
Yeah, I sent my Hansel und Gretel film to Spike & Mike and got no response. If Ren & Stimpy is too "mainstream" for them then what exactly are they looking for?
nicholas:
#2 - William H Macy, Kirstin Dunst & Steven Speilberg?
Is the guy in the glasses Kevin Costner or Kevin Bacon?
these are so cool!
1. paris. penelope.
2. that's got to be gary busey. [stumped!]
3. kate hudsons's chin. also starring drew barrymore as rosie odonnell. ouch.
4. kidman looks like murhpy brown.
5. elijah wood? another guess for seinfeld.
The third guy in the number 2 slot looks like Eddie Fitzgerald a little.
the life aquatic
2. jeff goldblum, cate blanchett, owen wilson.
this can't be right...
page 2:
Matt Damon
Katie Holmes
Tom Cruise
^Matt's a stretch, isn't it? Althugh I supected it was Tom in a beard, but there's no reason for anyone to believe me. I see Tom and AKtei now, though.
That Toby picture looked like an early Bill Murray to me, although I now see how its not.
actually, after taking a second look...HOW is that not Bill Murray?
the paris hilton sketch is killer! LOL... she has 'stuff' on her face! LOL!!!... oh boy that's good. these are all so twisted! fun stuff john!!
i should note that i'm pretty new here and well, feel free to visit my blog. there's really nothing there, i just made it today. i was here back in september 2005 but didn't know what the hell i was doing. :p then i got addicted to myspace.com. not to long ago some blogger friends bugged me to sign up here. it will be great to make new acquaintances. so far 'kristen' (john's links)is the only one i know personally from myspace,... as far as i could tell?
i'm sure there's a better and less intrusive way of doing this, but hey, i'm tired, outta the loop and kinda desperate to make connections before it's too late and i don't say a damn thing!! :p
keep the caricatures coming! get it? coming!! HA! :p *sigh*
go
That last one looks like Rowan "Mr. Bean" Atkinson and Michael Eisner.
I was thinking Tom Cruise on # 4, can't quite place the gal on the left (maybe a little bit of Candice Bergen in her).
The stocking hat on #2 really does look like Speilberg to me.
