Did you know that the word "Burrito" means "Little Donkey" in spanish. I won't elaborate. Think about that one next time you hold a big juicy one in your hands. yummm, I love the taste of little donkeys!!!
funny stuff......but on a different note i just read in the atlanta journal constitution that the boomerang channel in the uk is going to cut all scenes that involve smoking from classic cartoons that it airs for broadcast. I'm allready pissed of about the cartoon network altering the "mammy" voice on classic tom and jerry cartoons, it just makes me wonder when these bastards are going to stop fucking with the past......does this piss any body else off....any way the tenacious d drawings are wicked funny
Exactly what is happening in this scene? I see Jack getting irrate with Kage (as usual), and a burrito. This is a mystery. It's killing me. Keep going though. All fans of Spumco and the D are counting on you.
You are awesome. Why can't yopu paint in perspective? I'm about to submit my very first painting soon in my blog, and I have to say I'm proud. It's pretty 3d and in perspective (as far as I know). Not cartoony, but I tried to retain the same basic drawing principles that you and Preston are trying to teach.
The frame before he says EEE, and when he does are two of the funniest drawings this year. How do you come up with these faces- are these poo faces? Ha-ha!
Hey John, I'm amazed to see yet NEW face expressions on all your characters. They just never end. I Have no idea how you do it. It's Genius!!!!
OH OH I LOOOOVEEE the giraffe u designed a couple posts down. Ur cartoons make me all giggly inside!
Oh and the girl with the basketball belt and the peach background design is really awesome aswell!!!! The colors....*melt*! I'm slowly understanding how Cartoons outshine Disney. Don't stop the enlighting!
Visual o--y!!! and thats WITHOUT the sound or animation!
As usual, nice job, and I love thier dwarf like qualities...
Hey, I was wondering, could you lower the comment ban. I kind of liked the discussions on this blog... one side shouting yes, one side shouting no, not one listening to reason. Fun.
Oh yeah... the elasticity of line here just amazes me. Lookit them li'l guys move!
Do animators naturally think in terms of moving figures, or as a result of training the mind, eye and hand? Or in terms of movement?
I'm guessing they do. It's so much more fun to see figures jumping around on the page than dully standing there, doing nothing. Jack is hilarious but man, Kyle was BORN to be a cartoon.

Nice sketches, John!
BTW - are you getting royalties from Sara Lee? I noticed that the new commercials from Sara Lee are using the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song.

These are disturbingly cute. *grin*
Glad something's finally happening with these guys, too.
Jack's face is hilarious in the second picture. For some reason, I like the roughs better than the finals, but I can't figure out why.
I love jack's expression in the second picture.
