Aww...and such adorable li'l warriors, too...
Are these from a real cartoon/project? which? who? when?
Coolness!!!!! That last one makes me laugh!
hahaha, those look great!! I sense a great fad potential, tell us more about them. Will it be a show? Are you aiming on kids specifically?
Oh lord. That last baby reminds me of Full Metal Jacket.
No offense, because the drawings are awesome, but this may be your gayest idea ever. Entire shows babies always suck.
Hehehe! Babies with five o'clock shadows. Those look cool. Have a lot of character to them. Anything to say about these babies, Mr. K?
Heh. The bottom baby in the third picture is my favorite.
Awesome drawings.I'm a bit skeptic on the idear to tell the truth. There've been lots of shows and movies with babies as the stars, and it usually doesn't work so hot. But hey, you're a tour de force kinda guy, so I hope you prove me wrong.
Wait for it, John. I have a feeling someone will announce that you've ripped him off.http://dmgermain.blogspot.com/2006/02/fetal-squad.htmlThese characters look like their designs are developments from Clampett's gremlins. Do you have a context for them, like the ideas for shows that you posted last year?Speaking of which, I'd still love to see a Wally Man cartoon. Possibly as part of something like the Huckleberry Hound show, with George Liquor, Jimmy and Sody as the central characters, and Wally Man and your other unseen creations in rotating slots - as well as the old R &S-style commericals. What ever happened to 'My Little Ass'? I think you could do a brilliant variety-show cartoon, which hasn't been done WELL since 1958-9. Plus, the variety-show format would give new artists working for you a chance to work in a variety of styles, depending on the characters. Sort of like the way Art Lozzi described the atmosphere of early H-B.And, now that I think about it, the variety show format goes along with your idea that if you put out cartoons featuring all kinds of characters and jokes, your audience will decide on the ones they like and the ones they don't, rather than getting just one thing.
there's something about babies dressed up in adult outfits that's both adorable and disturbing...hey, i drew you fanart of Sody Pop.http://mitchv.com/images/sody.jpgI dont have any formal animation training and didn't really try to stay on model, so this is more of an experiment than a serious presentation, but i'd appreciate any tips and critiques you could offer if you have time.
Neato (or is it NATO?) concept, John. But, (ahem) how long ago did you think of this?
I'd want to work on this! I'll do your tests John (time to fetch the old Preston Blair book)! But the babies have to kick ass and get dames!
To really fit in with the late-80s "___ Babies" fad, the adult general needs to always have his face cropped by the top of the screen.
>Neato (or is it NATO?) concept, John.Natal concept!
these designs are really funny. was spumco formed at this time? or was this exclusively a john k. deally.very funny.
You might "own" drawings babies.
"No offense, because the drawings are awesome, but this may be your gayest idea ever. Entire shows about babies always suck." Okay that was my previous comment before there was any text on this post. Didn't realize it was a mock of shitty baby shows.
I LOVE IT!!! Really cool and funny designs, probably the funniest designs by yours I have ever watch, other than Ren and Stimpy. It doesn't seem as if the CONCEPT would be as cool as George Liquor's Show, but visually I even like it more. And I like George Liquor and Pals drawings a lot.
Very cool. These are colored digitally, yes?
Butcher I liked the Muppet Babies that didn't suck.John I particually like the 'Monkey' looking baby with the large brow and greyish circular around his face.
Hey JohnOn a different topic, I got a copy of Mighty Mouse the new adventures. And watched the infamous "Snorting" scene.I have no idea why people were outragedformost, its not like he crushed it up and snorted a lineand secodnly, the next shot is already cross fading on top of it and you can barely see what he is doingyears later, what's opinion on what happened?
Those are awesome drawings John!Did you end up completing a pilot for this concept?
These are awesome John!I think someone is trying to steal your likeness:http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q118/rguimond/johnk.jpg
I thought I was the only one who noticed a lot of babies look like creepy old men.
These drawings are really cool!
Wonderfully done! I take it that there were no takers for this project? Any other type of 80's Saturday morning cerial toy comercial cartoons you wanted to take on?
Somewhat off-topic, but this reminds me of a pathetic attempt I made to make fun of the "Lizzie McGuire" fad just a few years ago.
This makes Muppet Babies look gayer than it already is. Which I didn't even think was possible.
The one with five o' clock shadow, comb-over and a three pronged over bite has tude'....
oh cool. thanks for sharing! now i know what the drawing on your cafe press store is from. i'm really curious, did you have any interested parties? if it's spoofing gi joe you need to have more stereotypical representations of different ethnicities and cultures, and some sidekick animals and of course laser guns and crazy vehicles. so the baby cartoon craze was with like muppet babies, and tiny tunes right? what else was there, i don't think cabbage patch kids made it into an animated series did they?
Babies are my least favorite people to draw when I'm doing caricatures. Simply because they all look like micro grandpas. Sometimes parents bring in their week-old newborn to get a caricature done! There's really no likeness to define at that age - they all look basically the same. That aside, I think this is HILARIOUS!!!
This would have been a terrific show! A curse upon the execs who turned this down!
I had a feeling that those pics were to be used in a satire. And it sounds like it would have been a great one too, if released at the time when all the damed baby/kiddie/cutsey toons were popular (Tiny Toons wasn't too offensive though).
What would a possible episode title be called?"The Dirty Dozen Diapers." Criminal Babies put into military action for their freedom. Missions of pure impossibilities. Each one has a special talent to offer. What are their names? And the General is he like John Wayne or George Liquor? You could have a George Liquor 30 minute show. Like the old Huckleberry Hound show. With a 7 minute Jimmy & Sody cartoon. 7 minute G.I. Babies. and then a 7 minute George Liquor.
I would have called them "Army Brats."
Assuming these are newly colored (practicing with the program?), could we see the original sketches?
The Cigar swapped for a bottle is a great idea - NICE!
Awesome.All I can say.
ANGRY BABIES!!!! We don't have baby solders, we only have leaders with the mental capability of toddlers....
Well dammit, John.I wasn't aware of this. I wasn't aware of the Fetal Squad idea either. But in October 2005 I had an idea for the same sort of thing, and last year a friend and I turned it into a comic strip: www.warbabies.netObviously our designs are nowhere near as good as yours. The idea was always to pitch it as a cartoon, and I've just started working on a short with the characters, but, well...15 years too late.Out of interest, what did the TV people say when you presented this?
What a Hilarious concept John. Funny how that feel on the year I was born. I myself am working on a animated satire on one of the crappiest kid shows of all time "Dora the Exploror".I bet that gives you the creeps.I'm calling it "Dora the Dummy" and It not only shows that she's a money making fraud but she gets paid to act really dumb. She has an adventure to visit a friendly Crocodile but unfortunatly gets attacked and gets her beheaded head shoved on a stick in the middle of an unknown swamp with the 80s song "Manic Monday" playing in the background just for the heck of it.One of my biggest wishes is to get my entertainment idustry off the ground, get a team or fun loving artists and really do some cool projects._Eric ;)
The left baby in the 2nd picture is surely Barney Rubble and that last one has gotta be George Liquor JR.wasn't that adult sarge in a war themed episode of Ren & Stimpy from the 1st or 2nd series?
