wow fantastic work John!! Haha I fancy the George Liquor the best. This is how commercials should be:P
I will! They have already seen these- but they're going to have to watch them again!
YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!Now I can see them in a square frame, uninterrupted by that talk balloon on the actual site! :)
niiiiiice! your so kool John, as are your characters and commercials. Since I was 13 I have thought you and everything Spumco was kool. Remember Aurther Filoy? He worked on Ren & Stimpy a bit...He taught us for a minute or two here in Australia at uni. Anyway, thanks for posting almost, well, everyday. It is great to always have something to read and someone reminding us about animation stuff. I listened to your interview on ABC radio years ago in Oz, and it was really great to hear your views on the current animation industry.
i think they play a little more smoothly in this format too. maybe it just feels less obvious that it's a flash animation. maybe i'm oldskool and prefer my cartoons streamed at me rather than via bezier paths rendered in real time with pixelation so precise it slices my retinas.
Hmmm...is it just me, or the the "imperfect" or "dirty" look of the youtube version looks more appealing than the ultra clean lines of flash on the raketu site?Does that make sense? What I mean is, the on the site, the lines are ultra clean and flash looking.I think if these were on TV they'd look better, however.
$$$oooo....how many of you are going to skip or fast forward through these ads -or more to the point how many aren't?
Interesting. I think the first one especially does the best job of selling the item. It's simple. Interesting scenario, solid visuals. Followed by a conflict, and a solution in the product. The others are solid too.
there have been two weeks without being able to stop seeing the cartoons of raketu! they are too funny! John, you are the guilty!****I PUT NEW MATERIAL IN MY BLOG, ALL COME TO SEE IT!*****
Hey! I finally get to see these. All I got was a red X before. I don't know what site you used before but it didn't work for me for some reason. But the Youtube files work fine so....... huzzah for me. ;)Nice work, sir. Eddie did a great job with that voice too. He sounded like Dudley Do-Right's grandson or something.I notice that you weren't brave enough to give that African American girl a voice. I guess that's kind of a tight-rope walk. If you exaggerated her people would accuse you of being racist. But, if you gave her a neutral voice, you'd be told that you're denying her of her own culture. You just can't win. Oh well. Maybe in the next commercial she'll have some stuff to say.Anyway, like I said, you done a good job.
"she has thing for human skin" ???that's INSANE!uh. damn great cartoons. new john k product since APC? yeah! where are these being shown outside the raketu site?
The Sody pop one is my favorite. Poor little hot girl.
HA HA! You really nailed the character of Sody Pop in front of the computer. She reminds me of every gossipy girl I've ever met.
It's hard to turn away from such advertising...they really command your attention! The perfect recipe!
will the africanamerican goil have more acting in the future?? nice use of cartoons. it's always great to see flash back in the hands of animators.
PUT HER ON!PUT HER ON!PUT HER ON!AHAHAHAHA THAT PART IS HILLARIOUS!!!!
John- is flash your weapon of choice when animating on the computer or only when you have to output to .swf? What do you think about toonboom or anime studio?
Great cartoons John, George Liquor never fails to leave me in crazed hysterics! I really hope these lead to more commercial work from you, can't wait to see more!
They're all great (Sody in particular), but Bobby could use more movement (the cuts ain't cutting it for me). Just another .5 hour and you could give him a a lot more movement and life with the art you've already got created.(e.g. convert his head and mouths into their own graphic symbol, so you can keyframe and deform as he's talking.) Like so (this took me less than a half an hour):http://www.tedtoons.com/animation/bobbybigloaf/
i've seen these about a kagillion times and they still make me smile! and leave me in awe.
Thanks John (just in case I forgot).
The cartoons are great, and I LOVE the Sody Pop one. There good advertising cartoons. (By the way I want to become a cartoonist like you John... I just need ALOT of practice)
For some reason I love the moment in the George Liquor cartoon, just after he says "you know what free is?" where his head turns a few times really quickly with just two frames. I just found that part especially charming, like something from a Haana Barbera cartoon.More toons like that one and the Sody one please. The other two...not so much.
