Roger Ramjet - "Woodsman" - clip 1 opening scene

Look at these hilarious drawings!

This is great design. It has all the principles of technical good design, but on top of those it's funny looking too. It's like it's making fun of the 60s style.

You might think it's odd that I would get excited over that, but it's pretty rare to see funny drawings in the cartoon business.

Opposing poses-funny body poses, great balance of negative and filled space in the designs.

Funny voices, funny cuts.

This is the opening scene of one of my favorite Ramjet cartoons. The dialogue so far is mere exposition to set up the story, but the animator/director made it funny.

Even this seemingly simple background is funny. It's also great design and super organic, with lots of balance.

HEY BOB KURTZ! WHO DREW THIS ONE?

This is such a great episode!! Their design so funny! Fun tongue action! Eyeball close-ups! Holes! Isn't there a big funny bear eating the trees or something??

This is pretty cool. I bet cranking out a bunch of shorts like these would be great pacing exercises, as well as testing your ability to do funny poses, and to be economical with your shots. Seems like 1 man could do this. Why don't you, John?

I can understand why a person would love this. It's a condensed argument for getting maximal fun out of minimal resources.

I see. I watched that one the other day. The poor bear was confused on what to eat. It had been in captivity all it's life.

Those shows where fun and some were informative.

Like going to the Dentist, Monsters only need love, and Proton Pills cause irreversible damage to your kidneys and liver.

Thanks John.

I love the jump cuts zooming in on the eyes as he says "They're being pilfered, stolen, swiped." Great stuff. I think the video game age has stolen out imaginations...

Jeez, this could be done NOw soooo easily with computer aid.. and by applying all the right principles, design , layout etc.. that would make it look goood.

This show reminds me so much of the New Adventures of Mighty Mouse.

Even if it were done this well it would not have the same impact today. Animation needs a new paradigm. The audience has been numbed by decades of crap.

thomas: I show old cartoons to kids every chance I get, and they always laugh out loud and often hard. I observe them watching new cartoons and often, even though they enjoy them, they resemble zombies watching it.

What'd you think of Bananaman, John? Same basic budget, but made in the 80s.
