Writing For Cartoons 8a: More Gruntspeak - Boo Boo woos Cindy Bear

I started really getting into the gruntspeak after a while and found more places to use it.
You know how when you listen to classical or instrumental music, you understand the meaning of the music but you can't put it into the words? I tried to do that with grunt speak. I put in lots of inflections and even some dirty feelings.

It's too bad I don't have the raw track for this section to play you. You have to listen closely because Cindy talks over some of it. I tried to weave the most meaning full grunts through the pauses in her dialogue.

The background music and the gruntspeak work together very effectively. That unobtrusive music in your cartoons is like the styrofoam peanuts in which you pack valuable objects.

John, you should look into getting a Forum on your website... well I just realised this might not be a real website but a blog hosted by blogger.

Anyway just an idea, it would be really great if you had a forum where your readers could interact instead of asking questions directly to you using the "comment" tool and diverting from a point you wanted to make on your post.

Does this make sense? Sorry I am not a native english speaker.

As long as you already pay for website hosting then creating a forum is not too complicated.

I laugh so hard when ever i hear "grunt speak"- it's beyond funny, I can't describe it, hahaha.

Reminds me of that Sid Caesar sketch with the pantomime argument set to Beethoven. It's all about the feeling.

Whoah!
Death metal growlers and foreign singers are the same way! Good observation, John.

Nice clip, I'm puzzled by your choice of Cindy. Did you like Cindy Bear as a kid? I sure didn't, because she came later when the cartoons weren't as good.

I sent this clip out to everyone and their dogs this morning. Everyone agrees, it's a good way to start their morning.

The last BooBoo gruntspeak clip (Do Not Feed The Bears) had me rolling. I played it over and over and laughed and laughed.

I showed it to my wife and she just shook her head, glared at me disdainfully and said simply, "Like a 12 year old"
So I sent it to her coworker who's in his sixties and he laughed his head off too. We sat there on either side of her, acting out parts of it while she glared at both of us!

Love it!

You should do a post about "wal-eyed" expressions. Dumb wal-eyed animals are funny! ...Especially with gruntspeak!

GAD!

I finally had a chance to watch this clip at home with my earphones on and the volume cranked.

What a gloriously grotesque grouping of gutteral grumbles, grunts and groans!

I want to watch one of these recording sessions.
From a safe spittle distance, of course.

Gruntspeak is hilarious! I loved the vacant primal expressions on Cindy and Boo Boo's faces when they reverted to their animal state and started grunting to each other.damn funny stuff!
There were so many great moments in Boo Boo runs wild,(the awkward look on Yogis face when Ranger Smith places his hand on Yogi's knee!!) but the scene where Yogi discovers Cindy and Boo Boo alone together, tounges slapping wildly with the busted beehive in the background made me laugh my ass off. HOMEWRECKKKKKKKERRRRRRR!
The production music is great,I remembered some on the pieces were used on the original Gumby's.
