Pedro Completes Bosko's Bounces

http://pipsqueakscorner.blogspot.com/2007/08/more-boskoness.html

Pedro finished all 3 of Bosko's dances and they are quite good.

My only criticism Pedro, is that they are a bit too stiff or mathematical.

For example, In the first one, you traced-back his front-view head as it tilts side to side. It looks like a moving cut-out. In the original, his head is slightly different as it moves. Keep it organic!

If anyone else has done the animation, put a link in the comments and I'll check 'em out.

Here's the original post:

I am gonna put another good test up today, Oswald's dance which will also help you understand animating to beats.

Hey John- I still haven't had a chance to do this exercise yet. But I did animate to beats in a simple animation that made it as a finalist in a contest on youtube. Please go here and vote for it!

It's the 1920's style one. I know it's lacking. I promise I'll do these exercises soon- hopefully I can come up with some better stuff-I only had 2 days to make this one.

Hi Art

the action looks right, but your timing is off.

It should be to a 12x beat. 2 beats per second.

The waving cycle should be 24x total, shot on 1s.

The flapping should be two bounces per beat-6x between each bounce.

Try reshooting them!

make a click track in flash that is a click every 12x (with flash running at 24x p second)

you then drop your animation in so that the bounces hit on the clicks-the beats!

Thanks, John! You've been very helpful!

I've always wondered if those slight little differences in each drawing had an effect on the animation. I never thought it mattered, but apparently it does. I also noticed when I drew his feet all the same the animation felt kinda stiff and couldn't really feel the beats out as much, but now I know what to do.

I can't wait to do Oswald's dance!

Thanks again, John!

Nice work Pedro! So John, whos it gunna be tomorrow. Couture or Gonzaga?

Hmm...I think I'm timing retarded. Bosko now hits his lowest point in the bounce every 12X, but it looks the same to me. What am I doing wrong? Help John!

Art

it looks right to me

you have two many frames in the second wave of your arm wave cycle

As far as I can tell, Bosko is supposed to be a black man.
