Oh just so you can actually read the credits, Marc has graciously slowed them down to human speed so you can see how many famous names got their start from Ralph Bakshi...

Wow, that was great! Tons of hilarious cartoony goodness going on. Loved the talking crotch. Eddie rules.
Hey John,
Was Doug Moench(the marvel comics writer) brought in by the network or by Bakshi? I'm thinking the network, but then Bakshi did have other Marvel writers Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway did Fire and Ice for him. I guess the answer to that question will also answer if he was respectful of the medium or not as well.
Speaking of Bakshi, will you ever talk about that feature you and the talent from mighty mouse worked on for him--Bobby's girl--?
It looks great, I'll check it out tomorrow. Eddie's work is usually awesome.
This doesn't have to do with anything, but I just watched this trailer and I wanted to know if somebody here would agree with me that it looks pretty good:

It actually looks pretty funny and cartoony for a modern animation movie, and it seems a tolerable adaptation of french comic book Lucky Luke, at least.
Man, that had to have been fun to do! We all know John and Eddie are huge Clampett/Scribner fans. Well, I have a book (That's All Folks! by Steve Schneider) that has these 4 poses by Scribner from "Eatin' on the Cuff." They're part of a take by a bug with these Shirley Temple curls. I copied and copied these 4 drawings when I was a kid, so they popped into my head when I saw the stills of the Tooth Fairy. Any relation? I sure wish there was a space for cartoons to be wacky and surreal and good again. Wait, there is! It's John K's blog. Thank you.
this is great. where else can you see so much unadulterated Eddie? (other than his blog i mean, but he's too modest to post very many of his brilliant sketches).
thanks!
loved the Village Pantry ad too. that rooster can really ACT!
Loved the pants and the tongue penis. LOL ! I can see not only see Clampett in the haunted Pumpkin but early Jones as well.
Hey John-
This doesn't have so much to do with Bakshi, really, but for some reason it had never occurred to me until now to point this out...I dunno if you were aware already or not, but Ohio State has a Cartoon Research Library devoted strictly to print cartoons (no animation). I ran a search and saw that they have six Milt Gross "original art" pieces...I haven't seen them myself, yet, but I imagine there's a whole lot more there. It would be a good excuse to come to Columbus--I'll try to make some contacts at the library in the near future. I have some other animation contacts at the university...it could be a good place for a show, if there's mutual interest. If nothing else, OSU and ASIFA could be useful collaborators, if they're not already. Anyway, if any of this sounds remotely interesting, let me know in one way or another.
-Stiff
Completely unrelated but...
Smooth is the only texture there is. That's what I learned today. I'm sure you'll love this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=v9qpqyO_dmU
Now that's animation! You could learn a thing or two.
Imaginative!? King of Halloween!!?Wow, thanks for the compliments! This was the first film I ever wrote and directed. There are truckloads of mistakes but I had a ton of fun doing it. Thanks for making the studio the kind of place we all looked forward to coming to every morning!
That was brilliant. Even with the mistakes Eddie saw, it's still leagues above any of the cartoons made at the time and definitely above the ones made today.
Was that Paul Lynde as the voice of the hat?
Great stuff by Eddie! I didn't know that episode was all his doing.
I just recently saw Eddie's name in the storyboard credits of another cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters, by DIC. There are 2 episodes on the Ghostbusters II movie DVD. I had forgotten how awful that cartoon was, but seeing Eddie's name in the credits made up for it.
I like Eddies Drawings.
That was the best cartoon I've seen in quite a while. I love the visual metaphors the tooth fairy uses and the Superman cartoon reference. The house sequence is really wild and psychedelic, something you don't see in the realist cartoons they run now.
To regress to a dated conversation, what do you think of the Stan Freberg or Ernie Kovacs commercials?
Was making the Fleisher type dreamstuff a way of sneaking around CBS?
so -- there's many directors on MMTNA ( you and eddie among the others )....
who decided on the art style of the show, and did the directors all draw the same, or did their drawings get altered to be more 'on model' to that style?
- trevor.
likea true bad girl the witch apparently doesn't wear undies.
