Ranger's Retreat 2 - Trusting Class

Ranger Smith has just recently been introduced to the sensitivity camp and has been issued his new less aggressive name. He is now known among his forest brethren as "Tamlyn" - a much kinder softer less pointy name. You could butter bread with such a loving blunt name as "Tamlyn". He still isn't quite used to these new sensitive caring ways, so the sensitivity counselor asks his loving male tribe to help teach Tam about "trust".

Tamlyn tries hard to grasp this New Age way of thinking. The citizens of the soil empathise with him. They shudder at his barbaric ugly common sense view of the world and ache to cure him. They yearn to envelop him in the warm dark quivering whole-earth-father's womb of spiritual maleness.
Maybe they should chant "We are all one-ball!" somewhere in the cartoon.
These are drawn by Vincent Waller, whose sensitive pencil cares deeply for his audience.

That's all you get.

I was about to say "Fiddlesticks, that'as too short!" but how can I say "Fiddlesticks" to this?

These should be in a museum.

Gratefully,

I can't help but think that this was killed because it is far to close to the corporate culture of middle management BS artists that take similar 'team building training exercise' outings far too seriously.

I was suprised to find Kurt Vonnegut making fun of it as far back as 1952s Cats Cradle in a recent rereading.

Too funny! I would pay money to watch this cartoon. What a pity it hasn't been made.

If HB had done this cartoon back in the day, I suppose Daws Butler would have done the voice of the camp yogi. I wonder what he would have come up with?

....and after the retreat was over, Tamlyn and his friends were let back into the wild to dwell in harmony among the other forest denizens. Cindy Bear became the first Rangerette, and they all danced around a bonfire.

The End

Make sure to have a drum circle- hippies looooove a good drum circle! OOOooh yeah and NO MEAT ALLOWED! You get ostracized from the tribe for that one. (I know a lot about this stuff from my Portland days...)

Can anyone here tell me why, in movies, a 'scene' is a series of shots in one location, but in animation, a 'scene' is one shot ( or camera setup )?

Anybody that can't wait should go put their slimy fingers on these in person at the ASIFA archive! Man, that reminds me that I gotta get over there.

Funny stuff, thanks for humoring us John. You could probably post nothing OTHER than unfinished project materials, and soak up the fan-drool, but of course this blog has nobler aspirations.

Those animal ass-hats are the greatest

I'm surprised! This is the future! The "Age of the Internet!" If you make it, they will watch, cause with youtube and Newgrounds people will search from far and wide(on their Laz-e-Boy) to find this cartoon.
