That puppet is incredible.

Don't feel sad for Woody. I didn't comment on the last post but he was one of several characters I went through a brief spell of being obsessed with as a kid (I think Top Cat was another). I laughed out loud at that clip you posted. I love the way he practically turns into an arrow to fly into the shack.

That's probably the greatest puppet I've ever seen in my life.

I love Woody man! and puppets creep me out too much, although, this one's cute and okay as long as he don't show us his teeth.

The redness in his face looks great.

Those Flexitoon folks are geniuses!

And who hates Woody? I'm going to redraw the walk sequence you posted I love it so much!

I just saw a bit of The Phantom Tollbooth and that 'The Greed' sequence in the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie. Seeing how utterly screwy and sick people's imaginations can get made the pictures of that George marionette all the more disturbing.

Oh the EYES, that is so funny!! That has got to be great with the voice. Where is the Jimmy puppet?

I like this George much better than the last Republican puppet that went by that name...

WOW!!! That is the finest dang use of lumber I've ever seen!!! Please post a video of him moving and yammering! I gotta see him in action.

PS - I love Woody, too. Got 2 t-shirts to prove it!

Ah! Beany and Cecil!

I mean George and Jimmy! And Sody Pop!

On The Uncle Eddie Show.

Puppets are like instant animation. Who needs to ship drawings overseas when you can hang wood on a string, or shove your hand up a socks ass? This is the original CGI animation.

Wow, are you going to make an introduction to some cartoon with this puppet? That'd be very cool.

Incidentally, I do love Woody.

that puppet is freakin' great!

I feel for Woody, not eveyone has morning wood like him, he has it 24/7. I think he needs to lay off the Viagra and Red Bull.

This post satiates my hunger for Bil Baird.

The eyes on the puppet are
fantastic!! They're bulging
and they're surrounded by
huge sockets. I love 'em!

Well Bill works extremely hard. He does whole features by himself!

Every time I see him he is working - even when just hanging out, so I imagine that every scene he does is done cleverly and the way he wanted to do it.

I like a Woody.

So, cartoons ARE made of puppets and stew meat!

I'll take another Goddamn George Liquor program in any way, shape or form I can get it. In fact, there might be a good reason he's actually a puppet now. Perhaps an insidious puppeteer with a back story?

I would like to see George Liquor-Puppet's reaction to Tank Abbot's recent loss to Kimbo Slice. I am sure that Puppet-George didn't just stand by idly and take it. I'm sure Puppet George would Goddamn do something about it.

I thought the puppet idea was a really fun idea when the sketches first came up. I'm glad to see it come to fruition!

I've also done a few sketches of the George Liquor puppet if you want to see them.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL.

I may be imagining this; but is that a bit of a crotch bulge down there?

I'm just a Puppet perv.

Hi John,

It was a real treat meeting you, sir. Like I said, I know I can be a bastard sometimes & perhaps don't see everything eye to eye, but I have the utmost respect for your work.

After meeting you, I now have the urge to start drawing more. And thanks a jillion for the Stimpy, I'm still glowing because of it.

AMAZING! BRILLIANT! AWESOME!

I like it. Can we see the Jimmy one next?

You must do a revisionist "Beany and Cecil" puppet show, only this time with an all-marionette cast. Why? WATER ON STRINGS. This would cure the world's constipation and reverse global warming in one sweep.

Was this made in the 1980's like that Chris Peterson stuff.

Oh, and by the way, Woody Woodpecker is awesome!

oppo said...

Oh and John.

I think that the "Bil Baird" that Nick refers to is this guy:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047853/

He died in 1987.

John did you know George liquor made a cameo in Iwerks's Pixar documentary? I was watching it last night and at about 40 minutes in there he was for a few seconds. I had to rewind it to see if I was seeing things. It cracked me up! When did you first create george?

I did a bugs study from your facial expression post, in a case you want to check it out.

Trevor,

Speaking of which, anyone familiar with the comic strip "FoxTrot"?

A few years back they did a Sundays strip about Jason looking at web-animation. He made a list of several titles. One of them was "George Liquor"

http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/ft/2000/ft000611.gif

I find it amusing that the title was shortened to "G.D." due to newspaper censorship.

And just for the record, all the titles Jason lists are real. Many probably aren't around anymore, though, since this strip was published in 2000.
