There are at least 3 different Golden book adaptations of this Yogi Bear animated feature film.

Here are some pages from the Mel Crawford version.

Mel really has a great combination of design and color.

If only the movie looked this good! (There are actually a couple good things in the movie)

You mean you prefer Crawford color to the movie's advertise "Yogi color"?
I just love the great, simplistic work of Crawford. The colors are in a great red n' green (the new rock n'roll) balance.
Clear-reading composition-
genius in its simplicity!
I have not seen that movie in ages. Since I was in my early teens, I guess. One thing that I do recall is that I found it rather creepy. I don't recall why, exactly. But it seemed really creepy.
The colors in that book are stunning.
hey john,
check out these yogi four color comic scans i came across. see any good artists there...

I like this movie but some of the designs for the incidental and background characters are awful and ugly. Still, it's better than the shows they were making at this point.
Some nice use of three-point perspective by Mr. Crawford, especially in the first and last panels. You don't usually see that in cartoon illustration, because it's beyond a lot of cartoonists' abilities.
I've never seen the movie, is it any good? The great Warren Foster co-wrote the screenplay, so it might be.
Hey John,
If your interested I have the full book posted here:

hey John, this illustrations are wonderfull... i wonder how cool it would look an animated series with a style like this...with no line but hand made animation...and texture... i think that there are so much styles to experiment in animation, even a 3d film could be rendered in a way that looks more interesting that what's going arround these days...why not? thanks for keeping alive the spirit and life in animation, i hope that people get inspired to fight the automaticity and awake in what art really is. huggs!
hey John, i just loved these illustrations, how cool would it be to have a movie in this style! by the way this blog is a living source of inspiration and life to animation! how wonderfull it is that years go by and still i feel every post has something essential to learn, shared with generosity and uplifting energy...thanx
I've seen the movie, I liked it. Great to see the book that spawned it.
Today, I read news of a live action Yogi Bear movie. Frightening. Some sort of Scooby-Doo mix of CG and people.
