I can't wait to hear your thoughts on "The Dover Boys", especially since this is (as far as I know) one of the first theatrical cartoons to have shape-heavy designs. Also, doesn't Dan Backslide bear a rather uncanny resemblance to Ken Harris, what with both having a huge nose, as well having semi-huge buckteeth? Ken also had a big collection of automobiles, and he could have been a luring wolf or a lady's man during his time. Could Charles M. Jones have modeled Backslide after Ken? Or was it a flattering caricature? Which ever the case, The Dover Boys is still a classic, regardless of the context of the villain.Have a good one, from an aspiring animator/ cartoonist.

The bartender's pupils in that run are hypnotic. They dart so fast they flicker.
Wow, the magic of good animation blurring past so fast i hardly had time to appreciate the smears! Was the rip bad, or is the lip sync slightly out at times? Hmmm. I love the design and when he puts back those shots, that's some classic humour! Chuck Jones really should have experimented more in this direction.I must say i really enjoyed the limbs popping out of the smoke, its a nifty effect. I'm guessing they animated the whole character and then cut the parts out with some kind of overlay? I wonder.
