With the right direction, Billy is awesome. Even without it he is one of the best in the biz. He split my sides when he was on Howard Stern and the first few seasons of Ren and Stimpy.
I really don't understand these useless positions in the industry and idiotic assembly of others. There are dozens and dozens of "storyboard artists", a million hack writers, a "voice director", "story editor", and a "director". All they make is some scratches and words and then send it to Korea.
Trevor reminded me something, why didn't they get the original voice actor for dishonest John, Irv Shoemaker ? Was he still alive ? I can't seem to find his birtdate or deathdate.
"It has come to our attention that Bugs Bunny's voice makes him sound like a brash, New York area smartass.
If we can't get Mr. Blanc to make him sound more like a California surfer dude and get a proper line read on 'tub-u-larily awesooooooooome!'the role will need to be recast immediately to insure that everything will suck."
John, I would love your series of the show on DVD one day. I thought Australia was selling it but it turned out to be more of the older episodes, which is good too, because those still aren't completely on DVD either.
I like to put the modern world of work this way: "Management is a concept born to give the untalented something to do".
The execs in my industry (big iron IT) are just the same.....
They get involved in problems that they do not understand and then try and work out solutions to these problems, when they are already paying creative people to do these things for them... but they ignore them, because they truly believe that they know better.

Low blow.
Harsh.
So wait these people directing the voice acting screw up and blame someone else? Pathetic.
Inept and dumb?! Heaven forfend!
They didn't officially direct the voices. They just got in the way and wouldn't let anyone, so it ended up being 6 people arguing over every line.
Holder's letter comes off slow and plodding, causing him to seem inept and dumb.
wow, an official 1988 DIC memo
the disfunctional nostalgia is overwhelming
But inept and dumb sounding cartoon characters help make us feel better about out own ineptitude.
And here stupid old me thought Cecil's voice was great. I wondered for a long time if it was the original voice actor.

More Blair comparions
here
Tee hee. In the next letter, did he complain that Beany sounded immature or that Dishonest John sounded evil?
Words cannot describe the utter stupidity of that letter.
Oh, executives. Can you do anything right?
Hey John,
Just finished lesson 2 of my Preston Blair studies:
Lesson 2
Someone should do a dramatic reading of that letter.
Well to be honest, it was Billy's first role for a cartoon (according to some of my sources). But he did improve with time.
Please post more John, I'm curious to know more.
Billy was always excellent. The network people just didn't recognize obvious star talent.
They hated everyone on the show that they didn't appoint themselves.

And that memo is priceless.
Why didn't they just hire Stan Freberg?
I could never imagine wanting to replace Billy.

HAHA! I love corporate executives! Life would be so boring without them gumming up the works!
I also like pollution and bubonic plague!
Hi
Are studio execs inbreed?
or is it just nepotism.Ask one of them to take of a shoe and show you his six toes.
So I take it you had nothing to do with the kid voice they used for Beany? That one always bothered me.
Can't help but notice that this is a conversation about DIC between POLE and HOLDER.
Its not just studio execs who behave this way.

Bizarre.....
Whoa, I just read Bi11ys blog and holy cow, what a venomous midget. I really envy his career but I wouldnt want it if I had to be him.
He's totally delusional. Basically taking credit for everything R & S. Bashing John and the Spike shows. Jeez what an ingrate.

Who can put on an appropriate 'Maurice LeMarche pretending to be Ben Stein' voice?
