Toons 3: My Tryout For Model Designer

When I heard they were gonna revive the Looney Tunes characters, only as babies, I quickly made some samples to show.
It turned out they didn't like these very much.
Once they started doing some models in house, they showed me and I instantly saw the direction to take.
The idea was to make their brains giant size and give them tiny vestigial bodies. OK. Got it.

Always eager to please, I changed direction and offered my own big brain versions.

Damn, I still didn't get the job!

BTW, the bacon doodles are up now and selling:

Interesting. Though if your talking about Baby Looney Tunes it turned out to be fluff. It didn't bring back the classic animation principles or gags that made Termite Terrace such a powerhouse.

It was to aim at younger audiences who would much rather see violence any way.

A blog post hasn't made me laugh out loud that hard in a long time. I'm still cracking.

Thanks, John.

Wow, I wish they would have went that direction. I remember liking the show at first but after a while I couldn't stomach it. It just wasn't funny in my opinion. I'm not a fan of most character derivatives anyway. Great post, love baby Porky realizing he has gums.

John,
your twist on it is great, I especially liked the zany payoff take off porky..

Hahahahahaha. What a smart ass! Did you actually show them these last drawings? That would have been great.

Were they afraid that these designs wouldn't animate or was it that they didn't want the show to be funnier than the original Looney Tunes ( if it was the latter, then mission accomplished )?

I hope you don't mind.

Hilarious stuff, I enjoyed Tiny Toons but yours would have been a funnier show!

Your versions are wacjy enough to work as young Bugs, Daffy and Porky (instead of Buster, Plucky and Hamton).

Hey John, was this the last show by someone else that you tried to work for?

john im curious, doesn't the preston blair book recommend to create cute, baby-ish characters to make the head large in relation to the body? isn't that what they were attempting to do with tiny toons?

I like the designs you drew a lot better than the designs that ended up as the actual baby looney tunes.

Hilarious drawings. Hey John K, I just started a blog doing construction drawings. If you get a chance, let me know what you think. Thanks

when they said they were going 2 make baby looney tunes, i was really excited. turns out it wasn't that great, and was geared toward 3 year olds, then the general audience. ur drawings would have been perfect for the show! i especially like ur drawing of baby daffy duck. he was my fav looney tunes character.

I absolutely love Tiny Toon Adventures, but I can't see why they didn't take your ideas. That would have made the show a lot better.
