Been watching all the old Looney Tunes box sets with my son, who is visiting from college - grounding his education in the classics. Your commentary is great whenever, but is particularily fine on "A Gruesome Twosome." -- Mykal
That's a very awesome long beak. He looks on par with early Donald - like 'The Wise Little Hen' Donald when he was absolutely duck-like.
I always thought Clarence Nash was a perfect fit for Donald voice, because it sounded EXACTLY how a duck would sound if it could actually speak human words. You never got that with the other characters. Mel Blanc's Daffy had a duck quality too - with all the slobbery lisps, that's a vocabulary through a duck's bill, folks!
Anyway back to this - hey John, did you see those Nutella jars on Cartoon Brew? They're all plain stock art, but the Daffy one looks great! Also Clampetty. I hope to find one (or a dozen) in a supermarket soon so I can use them as fine drinkware when guests come over.
Oh, that's nice! I once saw a painted metal Beaky the buzzard at a flea market. I went to retrieve my companions (or money, I forget which) and it was gone before I could get back to the booth. These look similar in construction to that figure.
I think this was made in the 50s, but it looks like a 40s Daffy a Clampett or Tashlin.
I like the long beak.

Tashlin's Daffy is great. Nasty Quacks is one of my all-time favorite cartoons. It's just goddamn hilarious.

oh lovely! it's difficult to find good warner bros toys, especially of daffy (at least in my experience) and this one is totally beautiful!
