It takes Donald a second to realize the fight is over and then he bursts into his victory ritual! He does his famous "put him out of his misery" mock shotgun bit! Pure humiliation!
He races around the yard in triumph and hops up onto the fence! The crowd goes wild!
The whole neighborhood eats it up! Who doesn't love this hall of fame champion?
Donald does a backflip off the fence!
A perfect landing! What an athlete! What an athlete!
He gives the camera a thumbs up and his local gang signal!
Big John holds the hands of his anxious opponents. This is the only place you can do that in this great nation of ours, folks. And now we wait for the official judge's verdict. That is one sad looking headless boy there.

Donalds badass.
Mmmmmm...
I foreshadow some issue concerning hormonal doping.
John, how do you intend to do the layout for that scene with all the animals cheering for Bastard? I mean, it's crowded with elements and details and it's all set in a vertical device.
by making it wider, or panning up
love that "Stop" pose.
I actually like the lined paper.
It lets the kids know they don't need 2 dollar pencils and 20 dollar sketch books to be creative.
haha! The back flip off the fence is an excellent touch!
I'm a fan of the lined paper too. It's the only way to doodle
I liked the lined paper. It reminded me of when I was a kid in school constantly drawing and making doodles while the teacher droned on and on.
thanks for the non-lined paper!! but if you are more prolific on ANYTHING (that doesn't biodegrade before you can scan it) please use whatever is best for you.. p.s. thanks for doing all the donald bastard stuff too!! i can't wait to see that bastard fully animated!
poor mr.john gets yelled xD i dont have anything against lined paper!
You can't use the backflip cause CrazyHorse has it Trademarked i believe :)
Great strip John! I'm indifferent to the whole line paper debate, as someone mentioned earlier "whatever is best for you". On comparison however I will say that the poses do read a better without the line in the frames.
btw frame 4 is AWESOME! I'm liking all the little creatures :)
"The Crowd Goes Wild" shot is pure poster-rific cartoon art! and "F" the complainers! I'm with SquidJiggerLips, Gamzoo and HemlockMan...if the lined paper keep you loose and creative then stick with it. Drawing on crap puts the emphasis on creativity and not on fancy precious "art supplies."
I agree with SquidJigger...You don't need fine art materials to create art! Art is what comes from your mind and how you use the materials to create it! So John, do us all a favor and keep using line paper...from the dollar store! =)
oh..i see DB wears 'bad boy fight shorts'
btw..really funny story, john. and your blog becomes an everyday thing to me.
i enjoy it
greetings from berlin/germany
Michelangelo used to use lined frescos. Then the Pope smacked him upside-his-head and said "WTF with this lined fresco crap?"
