Roxy and Shaniqua are walking home from school. Shan: "Hey Roxy! School's out! Let's have some fun!"
"Why don't we go have have a jam session in your garage?""I could try out that new Tom Tom Daddy got me for my birthday! - and you could show me those new Hendrix licks you said you learned!"
Roxy: "I don't wanna have any fun!!! I had the worst day ever!! Don't you understand??!"
"I HATE my life!!"
"I hate school! I hate rules! I hate boys! They think I'm weird!!"
"I'm just gonna go home and talk to the one person who understands me!!""Oh boo hoo hoo! Everything sucks!"
Roxy slams her door behind her.
Psycho Mom: "Is that you, Honey! Well it's about time! You better get in and clean out your room!
I've had enough of your filthy old toys and mess! And you gotta do your homework too! If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times..blah blah blah..."
Roxy can't wait to get into the sancity of her messy abode full of dusty Dream Pets and stuffed beasts."At least I have one friend here that totally gets me!"
"The Curly Fuzz Poodle! Yaaaay!!!" She leaps out of her moccasins.
Roxy dives onto where her favorite toy usually sleeps......pause.....her Dream Pets wait for the explosion of grief.
Roxy jerks up in alarm! "Oh no!"
She frantically looks around, wondering where he is! She spots THE NOTE.
and snatches it upher eyes dart back and forth as she reads the stunning letter...
"Dear Roxy,You have been my best friend in the whole world,
but there comes a time in every old toy’s life
when he needs to be recycled.
Your Mom has decided that it is my time
to be thrown out with the trash.
Goodbye forever,
love,
CFP
the dirty old piece of crap."
Roxy shrieks in anguish and leaps into the air.
she rushes to the window as she hears the garbage truck collecting the trash."NOOOOOOOO!" she screams!
She dives out the window to race after the truckto be continued....

Hmmm, this looks like a cartoony concept with both fun and real heart.
Will be fun to see where this goes and how it grows!
Save Him!
great drama John!:)
I like the note alot:D
i always hated when my mom threw stuff away without asking
Thats some good artwork. I hope this doesn't turn into one of those "The Garbage dump just so happens to be a Junk Yard with a car baler" setups, though. Thats not original.
It's so real, that's why it's funny. I love how Roxy whines about "The one person who really understands me" right there in front of her flesh-and-blood friend.
That was hilarious...but I'm reading this at school. It'll probably be depressing if I read it alone.
You're the man, John K. I just convinced my mother to doublecross my Dad and smuggle me R&S: The Lost Episodes. I'M SO EXCITED!
PS: A MAN who can draw things that are cute? *punches myself in the hands* STUPID HANDS! WHY CAN'T YOU GUYS DRAW CUTE THINGS?!
Really expressive poses!Roxy is so loveable.
She's so adorable!
this actually happened to me, had a nice small collection of action figures and toys, stuff from g.i joe, marx, assorted games, disney stuff, warner brothers characters, hanna barbera nick knacks and such, was really into this sundance kid action figure with a poncho, holsters, guns, hat, the works.came home from high school one day, all gone, donated to charity, i was judged too old, i have yet to truly forgive or forget this incident, yeah i got on with my life but the violation, the callous disregard for my feelings still stings, today i cruise the internet hoping to find some of that stuff, til this day nothing.
Poor Shaniqua has to put up with Roxy's temper tantrums.
Is this another one your psycho dramas? Why does the mother have to be such a buzz kill? I wouldn't be surprised if Psycho Mom went through an oppressed childhood were she wasn't allowed to have fun. I loved how you explained Rens messed up childhood in Ren Seeks Help, maybe Psycho Mom's past isn't to different.
that was really, really good.
when can we see it on TV?
soon I hope.
I like that yer adding color to these doodles now.
These girls are so cute! I want stickers and folders of them. The popular girls will be jealous.
This. I like this. This!
GO GET HIM!!
Not only does this appeal to girls, but every pubescent misfit boy is gonna have a HUGE crush on Roxy. I smell success....
You'd probably have to change crap to something like junk or garbage.
Man that's nice drawing. So lively.
My mom used to storm into my room on random weekend mornings and throw everything that was on the floor in the garbage and screaming all the way. Mean as all Hell, but it taught me to never go to bed without cleaning my room.
BTW, aside from the appeal this concept already has, JK, why not add another aspect to the pitch (or another pitch you feel would be a better match):
Suggest how groundbreaking it would be as 3D.
!!!!! But __Not__ as CGI 3D !!!!
but Cartoony 3D (CTY3D), which hardly anyone has tried yet (I don't count Dreamworks 2D'ish part of Kung Fu Panda - not all that much "cartoon" in it). CTY3D means drawing your elements as desired, then working with them in a 3D camera compositing program (several of which are already "feature tested").
Given an avalanche of 3D viewing products are heading towards the home, CTY3D could be another hook to line up funds towards getting a pilot made, __providing__ the investors understand up front that, creatively, you and crew are left alone to make the concept as funny and/or pathos as you wish.
After all, didn't Disney (or other classic-animation era producers) have to sell investors on other aspects of his films (Fantasound, etc) in order to get the money he needed?
The 3D At Home trend from what I've heard will be VERY short, if it even happens. I've heard they have it in Japan, some pain in the butt box you have to hook up or something. I forget.
Thanks for the laughs Mr. K. I love the little touches, like her jumping out of her shoes, the other toys looking all concerned, the "piece of crap" line, and ofcourse psycho mom's squawking. Its all really really funny.
He must have been shedding some tears when he wrote the final words of his note ("the dirty old piece of crap")! Can't wait to see what's next!
These drawings are BEAUTIFUL. Man. I could look at those all day.
Well, nice thing about "toon 3D" is you can tell the camera to render the same drawing stream flat w/o introducing any artifacts.
If home 3D market croaks it won't be the first home entertainment dud. Quadrophonic sound (4-channel) bombed too when it first came out, but eventually morphed into the widely used Dolby 5.1.
Irregardless of how its production bucks get raised, fingers X'ed this concept turns into a finished project true to its roots.
John: Loved this. More.
Okay, Mr. K., the comment every writer lives and loves to hear:
"And then what happened?"
Huh? Huh? (Oh, crap, here come the commercials.)
(Hey... you're not going to have one of those cartoon music videos at the end of each show are you? Although, I did quite enjoy the musical interlude of "Don't Touch That Dial")
These Heartaches drawings are great! Can't wait to see what comes up next.
