That looks like a Milt Gross house, doesn't it? Here's what cars looked like when I was a little kid. And here's what they promised us they would look like in the future. The future never came.
hey cool! you used the picture i sent ya! if you want to take better pics of those packages, i can get 'em to you, no problem. i always loved the look of those paint packages.

your so right! the future never came, we keep treading over the same old stuff for over 40 years now, i think americas are afraid of progress, afraid of the future.
Your blog has suddenly become a time machine to take us to the future that never happened. Darn the death of the Jet Age. What exactly happened that prevented us from having a world like the Jetsons? Back in the fifties they promised us flying cars and condensed food cubes by 2000. Were in 2010 and it seems were living in a situation similar to the depression instead of making futuristic progress.
I kept waiting for the flying car. And Pan Am trips on space shuttles into Earth orbit to vacation on enormous spinning space stations designed by Werner Von Braun.
I don't know much about cars... But I do know that the old ones looked *awesome*. Maybe if they still made cars that looked like that I wouldn't be a perma-pedestrian.
Hell, I'd even take one a them-thar future-mobiles.
Your comment about the future that never came reminds me of the Tim Wilson song "Jetpack" which can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1SCu9yiBlo
If the science fiction crowd showed us pictures of 2010 cars fifty years ago, we wouldn't be very excited about the future. On the other hand, if they showed me that in 2029, I could buy a car that looked like a 1957 Buick that could fly and control the weather, I'd start a savings account.
hey john, i was wondering what your thoughts on smoking and drinking in cartoons is? back in the day even disney had cigars and beer in their cartoons, why is it now seen as something evil, even though movies like pinocchio are considered classics?
Flying cars. Rocket packs. A personal robot servant. A Moon base. A Mars base. Nuclear fusion. Teleportation. Cyberspace.
The future we got ... Electric cars with bad brakes. Suicide bombers A robot phone that orders you around. A war in Iraq. A war in Afghanistan. Clean coal. A 3 hour wait at the airport. Internet porn.

That is one swell looking future car.
Wish they'd stop making cars uglier.

Well how far into the future are we talking here?
I feel that the car of the future did indeed come to pass. Minus its fins, is that or is that not a Gran Torino?
Starsky n' Hutch would have been even more blandly badass flyin' around in that thing.
Those packages really make you want to eat those paints.
HEY JOHN!!!!
I've done some inks of George Liquor, would you let me know what you think of them?
Inks of George
Cheers pal!

Yeah, where did the future go? No flying cars, no personal jetpacks, no robot servants... all we got is the dysfunctional distopian government...
I kept waiting for the flying car. And Pan Am trips on space shuttles into Earth orbit to vacation on enormous spinning space stations designed by Werner Von Braun.
Alas.
I like how the car of the future has separate bubbles for each occupant, so you won't have to hear each other.
Maybe there was an intercom, because that's more futuristic.
Cool paint sets! Does Spumco still sell art supplies?
my friends and I call it "the old futurism"
(in spanish sounds funny, el futurismo viejo)

I have those paint sets, too. The paint has long since dried up but the packaging is as fresh as ever!

Todays cars look like Norelco shavers. Where's my jetpack?
