Canada's National Treasures

Did you know that Canada produced both the world's greatest actor and the greatest supermarket?

I was molded by these commercials and there are even earlier and more thrilling Shatner/Loblaws commercials. Are there some Canadian commercial collectors out there? Help educate the world and share our cultural heritage. I'd also love to see the old Dominion commercials too. With the "Mainly because of the meat" song.

Does anyone remember the episode of Star Trek where the Enterprise took on the Tribbles in a game of ice hockey? The Tribbles coach was a Klingon, the Enterprise's, Spock, of course. Shatner gets into an on ice frakas with the Tribbles... the whole team of them.

Or was this a LaBatts commercial?

Even now you can see The Shat shilling for a cheezy Law Firm here in Columbus, Oh. Is there NOTHING that man won't shill for?

Willaim Shatner + commerical = Excellence.

Nice, even though that supermarket can't be the greatest in the world judging by that commercial. Although I've never watched Star Trek, Shatner would make a great salesman regardless. I'm extremely jealous of you Canadians now. You guys seem to get all the cool stuff, like the British do, while American entertainment seems to be declining year after year.

i love shatner so much. he does local commercials in oklahoma for different law offices. the guy's in his 70s and still takes any job you throw at him and makes it funny,

Unlike if you're a Canadian yourself and realise you gimmick the brand American style. And it's not because you don't have the talent to up. It's mostly it works by finances, like the rest of our local festivals and artists who was paid so much.

They exist Canadians artists who can do work better than imitate the Americans, but that's what peoples rarely recognise.

Canadian commercials are hilarious. These are two that I always remember!

This was always on when I was a kid. It`s a Canadian government PSA about not putting stuff in your mouth:

Local victoria furniture commercial. It was shown in Vancouver too but probably not east of BC:

At first I thought he was saying "Blah Blah's." As if they dubbed out the actual store name.

People give Shatner crap, but he was the only Star Trek captain who didn't seem like some boring middle management type.

I really like William Shatner. In some ways, he's a real jerk. But I've always thought that he could turn in amazing dramatic performances from time to time. And no one else made watching Star Trek so much fun.

SHATNER IS AWESOME.

Loblaws calls themselves SuperStore 'round my parts.

It would be nice to have some cool animated ads.

Another treasure from Canada: ad for the customs regulations of Canada by Richard Condie.

I like how that second one is only slightly stupid. both are actually kinda fun.

"WHO gives him crap??!"

Dummies who think good acting means being a snooze fest. Usually the same people who think Klingon is a real language.

Actually, there is an entire Youtube channel for old Canadian commercials
