Actually I always thought that Walt hired boys who looked like him when he was a kid because all the child stars have a similar look in Disney's films.
Poor Bobby Driscoll. I haven't really seen the films that he starred in at Disney's, but it's unfortunate how even he was attacked by the press and the tabloids.
Is there a biography about Bobby Driscoll? Pretty tragic story. You are write a lot of the kids looked similar, especially Kevin Corcoran and Kurt Russell.
Bobby Driscoll, underage gay love object of cartoonists everywhere! (or at least Diz and Charles Crumb)
Walt being gay would explain so much, though. I'll buy it. It at least explains his belief that a female cartoon character is just her male counterpart in drag.
What happened to Bobby Driscoll? Sadly, his popularity declined when he was no longer deemed cute. He got addicted to heroin and died from heart failure around his 31th birthday, homeless, alone and unmourned. Only 19 months later did his family learn of his death.
According to Wikipedia, "Walt often referred to Driscoll with great affection as the living embodiment of his own youth".
I had just finished watching "Window" and remembered Bobby in the movie "song of the South". I wanted to find out what he was doing after all these years thinking he was old and retired but to my sad surprize found out his story and death at the young age of 31.. RIP Bobby!

Having not known much about him until recently, it was sad to have found out how his life spiraled down since the Disney days.
I wonder if other child stars shared the same treatment Bobby did after their days of Disney were over.

Them tabloids are really milking that subject, aren't they?
ive never seen disney's treasure island, but its a creepy coincidence how frequently its drawn out people's latent pedophilia
really messed up how the tabloid equates being gay with pedophilia
Then there's the case of Tommy Kirk. He was, uh, too, happy and GAY for Walt...
