I think you can buy Nine's comic, Meurtres et Chatiments here, but I'm not sure how:

Man. That guy would have had a hell of a career with the old National Lampoon! Great stuff!
Every time I start to feel better about my work, someone digs up another French cartoonist...
He's argentine, not french (althought his work is published there)
Thats some DARN good drawing right there.
This guy is great! He reminds me of one of the only "new" Mad Magazine artists I like, Hermann Mejia.
Wow, pretty cool!!
I swear, South America is home to all of the surrealist artists. Salvador Dali, Oscar Grillo, Carlos Nine, these guys (and even more!) are all monsters and their work just crushes the hell out of any edgy or appalling art from North American artists that I've seen. What do they eat down there?
These remind me a bit of Oscar Grillo's art. Something about the level of detail, and the caricatured proportions...
Whoa! I haven't seen this before. Pretty awesome stuff. You've got a competitor right at ya, John K! haha
Awesome.
OH MY GOD!
I'm Speechless...
What a good girls!!! man, I can feel de roundness of the legs, breasts, arms, I can feel the meat!!
That picture of the woman showing us her back is awesome, he sure knows where to put the accents in the pictures for comunication.
Another great cartoonist to my list!
Thanks John!
its like oscar grillo was taught to paint by gill elvgren. this guy is insane.
Argentine cartoonist, Severin. You surprised me, John, first Grillo and now him!
You might like his son too, Lucas Nine: http://www.lucasnine.com.ar/home.php

m, I recomended him to you when you was talking about Oscar Grillo...
Another great artist I haven't heard about, and what an appealing style too! I hope you upload Jojo's Popeye drawings. I'm dying to see those, and I mean that.
Correction: I meant Carlos Nine's Popeye and Olive Oyl drawings. Sorry. I didn't read the post carefully.
Nine, Grillo, my favourite artists.
What a nice surprise John K.! Carlos Nine is one of the most greatest artist from our country. Here you could watch him talking and working at his studio:

Ross: Salvador Dalí was Spanish, and Spain is in Europe, not South America ;-)
Cheers!
I discovered Nine while in Rome a couple years ago while browsing in a bandes dessinee/fumetti shoppe and bought Nine's La Chatte etc. The work in that is less modeled and rendered out than the examples here and far more impressionistic. A wonderful sexuality to his stuff.
He`s considered one of the true masters of Argentine illustration. I remember me as a kid seeing a exhibition with some of his works, even as a little boy I could tell this man was a genius.
You will love this short film based on Carlos Nine's concepts.

Some of the best stylizations I have seen since early Hannah Barbera. Man why aren't more American artists producing work like this?
Fabian, this last short is made and directed by Lucas Nine, his son. The style he has is very similar to his father, Carlos.
Not sure who I like better, Carlos Nine or Lucas Nine- both are incredible. A lot of talent in that family.
S.
Wow! Now that´s some good cartoonin´, and also thought of Mejia when i looked at that fantastic art!
I and yeah! Mejia is the only new MAD artist worth giving a damn, that and good ol´Sergio.
BTW Grillo is pronounced "Gree-yo" and Nine as "Nee-Nay" in spanish!
Thanks for making my day Mr. K !!
Some of these illustrations look like a demented take on Ralph Bakshi.
Well, probably you'll like Enrique Breccia, Mr. K.
Nine is someone I've been recommended zillion times... many people in Argentina consider him "the man" to be sincere, tho he's a bit boring. There's something about the subjects he chooses and how he handles them which makes me say "ah". The same happens with Breccia. Grillo, on the other hand, no matter if it's a seagull taking a piss or a woman looking fixedly at a man he makes the view fascinating.
John, do you know the work of Edika?
EDIKA
What do you think?
I think he's a genius!.
@Lucas Nine above
I like the film a lot and you have some cool images on your blog...
There is no doubt, he is one of the greatest artit of the world

Whoops! Dali is from Spain, yeah. Thanks for keeping me honest, Alex. Also, the Popeye stuff is pretty nifty.

John!
you should check other argentinian artists as well; we have a good tradition of amazing graphic art.
Quino is at the top of my list, but i doubt you haven't heard about him already.
Theres a publication called Fierro here, which groups a lot of argentinian comic and cartoonists, Nine amongst them. Ill try to scan and upload one so you can see for yourself.
greetings!
Carlos Nine is the man!! I knew him by reading FIERRO magazine here in argentina. Im glad that you appreciate him!
His from is Argentina and hi is very popular here. I love his work.
