it's from this story

Honey is a bears most prized edible substance nature has to offer.

Bears know this and take great pride when delving into a world of incredible tasty sensations.

do you trace the different lines in illustrator with certain brush tools or is their a way to render the lines and smooth them out in just a couple steps?

I see you got the hang of illustrator. Or is this still what you consider not good enough? I suppose cartoonists should strive for excellence.

Funny picture John. I like how many pads he has on the feet!

i wish i could do that with bees too! great!!

That must really hurt for that bee. Kaspar practically cut his body open! Someone should call the Humane Society or something for animal cruelty to bees.

Anyway, beautiful drawing and BG. For a minute there, I thought you had painted it without the assistance of some program like Illustrator or Photoshop.

The colours are wonderful, but the "squeeze" is totally in the wrong part of the drawing.

A) It looks as if it's written across Kaspar's chest.
B) It should be next to Kaspar's hand, because that's where the squeezing happens.

That said, I've been wondering why you don't include text balloons when copying comic panels. They're part of the composition, which just looks off without 'em.

Your use of colors never cease to amaze me, John!

Like Trey's comment above I am also curious to your process, John. Do you draw the lines with a mouse, wacom tablet, or some other method? I personally prefer my logitech mx revolution mouse over the wacom, which just never has felt like drawing naturally.

Nice textures. Is that digital? Sponge brush?

I ink the lines in illustrator on a Cyntique but I'm not very good at it.

The BG is is an old BG from Boo Boo Runs Wild, painted by Richard Ziehler Martin. I just changed the colors and turned down the contrast.

A nice way to reuse a BG! I bet that bee's butt is gonna be really sore the next day.

It's a cool pic. John is so rough on bugs, I wish he'd come to my place and work his evil magic on fruit flies and moths.
