That's beautiful. I wish Scribner had gone to work for Avery instead of McKimson after Clampett left. Or any other director that would've appreciated his gifts. Shane
The last frame looks a bit like an early Don Martin expression (without his signature head shape, though).
A real golden age of commercial animation. Well established characters could still be played around with by the artists instead of being tightly controlled and on model like a corporate logo.
It's a pity the market researches don't realize the audience can tell when it looks like they actually had fun designing the animation in a commercial and that it gets your attention more than the smoothly generic and polished look they're so fond of.
Scribner is that rare combination of great animator and cartoonist.

These drawings just keep betting better and better. Who knew Scribner could do so much with the 50s UPA style. It's all very inspiring.
