God I love this artist. So many features and details, they don't draw like this on network television anymore. Especially with the flat designs these days. Is it budgets, executives, or is it because many of today's artist don't have exposure to this guy. I got my exposure while reading MAD Magazine.
Needless to say when the industry stops using their imagination standards drop. A fine example of this would be the early Shrek designs http://comicrazys.com/2010/06/06/shrek-character-design-and-pre-production-artwork-mike-ploog/. Why did they have to take a crap on the potential the film had.
The way he make details to the body is very energetic! This is i call, a true artist. Modern cartoonists needs to take a look to his art and analyse it because today's comics art is stink!
I second Dubious Duck's post. His link deserves a look: Early Shrek What they eventually settled upon ruined the franchise for me. Have never seen it - never will.

ontopic: The drawing with the teeth yuk! looks very nasty funny drawing though. you just don't make up drawings like these, they happened by them selves when he drew them.

I love Wolverton! I would never think to draw teeth coming out of someones nose.

He was brilliant and had a really cool sense of humor. I keep meaning to buy his version of The Bible, but haven't got it yet.

this artist is my hero. As a kid i'd look at all his mad magazine illustrations over and over and over.
