Wow you're drawing like god
Heh heh. Shrek!
You don't need practice!!!!!!!
I think you should pitch the adventures of the Wacky Nebulous Blob to Hollywood execs- I hear they're really going for that style these days.
these are great! glad you had time for more than bacon doodles. The charlie sheen is perfect
John, don't know if you're aware of this, but your characters were altered and used in an episode of the Japanese cartoon "Panty and Stocking with Gaterbelt" http://onepieceofbleach.com/panty-stocking-with-garterbelt-episode-8/be warned, the show is extremely racy, yet infinitely more interesting than most anime. It's purposely designed to resemble stylized American animation, and clearly takes influence from you among other American cartoonists like Genndy Tartakovsky.I'd be pretty damn interested to hear what you have to say about it sometime, actually.
In case you don't have the time, here's the character based after Stimpy
I laughed at the Charlie Sheen drawing.
Your Taylor Swift is the best, man.
It's like every time you sneeze, BAM! there's a good funny drawing!
Just curious but is there a reason you used the paper with the grids or was that just the paper you happened to have? The reason I ask is because I know that sometimes artists use grids when they draw.
Mattieshoe, I don't think they could make a less solid character with worse squash-and-stretch and worse-timed inbetweens, even if they tried. That has to be the worst walk-cycle ever committed to paper, and that's no easy feat. A perfect example of the lack of: solid forms, timing, and an understanding of squash-and-stretch.
That Japanese cartoon was a cluttered, obnoxious mess. I don't know what John K thinks about it but he likely won't be impressed.
To MattieShoe:Someone on GAC forum told us about the Ren & Stimpy reference in this Anime title. Did it's arranged or it's just a pure coincidence?
Oh God, John! You dared to draw Shrek?! Somethings not right here!
I modestly think your construccion in "realistic" nature is improving a lot every time
Mattieshoe:This very recent post: http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2010/11/inverted-curves-theory.html combined with the knowledge that John K. is not fond of pop culture references as comedy should tell you what he would think of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.
I love the eye contact on the 3rd page characters.
Nicholas:I know full well that it most definitely won't be John's cup of tea, but it is interesting to see this "style" handled with some actual artists and a satirical purpose. This is produced by the same studio that made FLCL, which I'm pretty sure John has praised before.
Isaac: Panty & Stocking is hardly great animation, but if you really think that's any worse than the little kid drawings you guys defend regularly on this blog you're pretty delusional. It's an amorphous "ghost," it should look different than a cruddy "solid" Golden Age-style walk cycle. If you traced an average Golden Age walk cycle and drew that character over it I don't think anyone who doesn't obsesses over this stuff from nearly a century ago waaaay too much would go "Wow! I'm really seeing some way higher quality animation, holy shit, that old version was the worst walk cycle ever put out by man!"
