Do you remember when mustaches grew above the nostrils?
Have you seen "Puppy With Bee"? There was a whole "with bee" line of toys in the 60s. Puppy without Bee is no fun at all. I wish Woody would be with bee. With penguin is ok though. Flintstone with melted crotch shreds. He must have sat on a piping hot pizza. These are a few of my favorite things... Beatings used to be regular happenings in the funny pages. Do you collect heads in a bag? That used to be a big deal.
Popeye gets my vote as winning a high place in the Pummeling Hall of Fame. He could dish it out and he could take it, without super powers. Foghorn Leghorn is right up there too with a mallet, but these days they cut away so you don't even get to the boidys flying around his head. Where are the good old fashioned massacres we used to enjoy?
Thanks for your showcase, Johnny K., but when are we going to see more of your great animation lessons? Because your animation school is, in my opinion, twice as good as CalArts, Sheridan, VanArts, or any other animation school around the world.
Hi, John. I normally wouldn't be bothering you with such trivial links to videos you don't want to watch. but I quite enjoy this animation and decided to share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDJocyVi3s0

That Yogi mask made me laugh.
Did good ol' Mike Fontanelli dig these cartoon treasures up?

I really really didn't know that Popeye was a redhead. He's been around for 82 years and I just learned that... go figure
HOLY CRAP! That Yogi mask is AMAZING! Man, they sure don't make them like they use to!
Get scans of that Paul Terry cartoon course comic posted, please!
I need an 'Ultivac' to clean my kitchen whilst I prance around in my Yogi the Guinea-pig costume.
That Yogi item is a ball toss game, not a mask.
That Blondie strip is pretty funny. What's your opinion on the newer Blondie strips?

Thanks. You mean you've finished all the lessons that are already there?
Half of the fun of the Yogi game was the weird clunky sound it would make as it swallowed and then expelled the ball.
BLONDE GODDESS "Made in Japan". I hardly think so.
The laughing bulldog has a goddamn George Liquor butthole-ear for a belly. That be funny.
Ultivac really sucks.
Ultivac really sucks.
Anyone else notice the blonde goddess is a ginger?

Haha darn, I was just coming in to say the same thing.
OT: Since I know you're a Harvey Eisenberg fan you might enjoy this: http://sekvenskonst.blogspot.com/2011/06/three-lazy-mice.html
Found no other way to get in touch with you, so this comment field will do I hope.:)
In the New York Times Book Review, there is a decent sized review of a comprehensive book of the history of comics.
Will alert you when I see any Clampett books announced.
John, I'm getting kind of sad here. Where the hell are those new [adult swim] bumpers? What happened?
They are done. Just wait for them to air...
Oh what a sigh of relief. I thought some executives eff'd you over again or something.
Can't wait, and thanks for clearing that up!
