It was a real pleasure meeting you yesterday at CTN, I think I will be putting Toon Boom on my credit card soon. Thanks again for the great portrait as well!
Okay nevermind I just learned you're gonna give a lecture at LCAD. I am SO excited about this and I'm really eager to meet you! I'm really glad you like the school :)
I am an animation student at Phoenix College, and I am doing a formal report for my technical writing class on getting an animated series on to a major network yet retaining ownership of the property. I was wondering if you would like to do a short email interview that I could use for the report? I set comments to respond to my email, I hope to hear from you and thank you for your time.
your so lucky to have worked with Ralph Bakshi...cmon like Heavy Traffic ..beautiful shit man... I got almost all your and his stuff on hard drive I keep mans best friend in my phone. thank you sir you make me laugh.
Thanks so much for visiting LCAD yesterday! It was great and super inspiring! I especially loved your analysis and demonstration on how you take live-action reference and apply it to animation.
Hope you come back some day to inspire us some more!
Hey John. i realise you're crazy busy just now but any chance on doing a post sometime in the future on characters colours changing under different lighting. That totally puzzles me. Hope the CWL production is going smoothly.
Also, the kind of __subtle__ details JK and his trained artists show here, and will (I assume) animate many of, would take a CGI 3D artist a long time to create, let alone animate, in a 3D George L.
Frankly, I doubt there is a 3D artist, or a performance capture artist (including the great Andy Serkis) on this planet that could "capture" George L.
Hey John I know you must be really busy with Cans. Last year you gave me a great lesson and I have learned a lot. You showed me everything I had to do to get better at this cartoon stuff. Structure Drawings, More Cartoony, Cleaner Drawings, Continuity, Learn Toon Boom... so I made this little piece. It is not perfect, it needs a good director and more Jim's Layouts. I know that with some kind of guidance I can be helpful. In case you need some extra help on Cans, you can count on me pal. FREE of charge.
happy happy joy joy, the JK Store does have the GL tee shirt I suggested (perhaps it was there before my suggestion).
unhappy unhappy cry cry. the store does not accept payments right now. Will try again later in hopes it will accept my card which works everywhere else.
(Luca Carey) Is it wrong that I like seeing the process drawings more than the finished product? As someone who doesn't watch a whole lot of animation but loves comics, though, I'm amazed at how these drawings maintain their energy from sketch to cleaned up movie-picture. Not my cup of tea, but very classy.
Hey John, The inking on the current stage the cartoon is so far is awesome! How do you systemize your animations so assistants and the like know what to do? Thanks.

AWESOME!!!
john, I would come if I could! Next year when I move out to L.A., I'm sure you'll see me around all of these sorts of things!
nice
Some poor sap worked on Halloween. I'm sure he enjoyed himself. He was doing animation after all.

That big George face is going to make an awesome cerealbox cutoutmask.
This is so cool! And plus, you know the drawing's in good hands, because Jim's like the best guy in the world! AND he can draw like the dickens!
We cartoon lovers have a lot to be thankful for at our table this year!
For Thanksgivinig, I am thankful you are keeping the flame of decent animation alive.
Hopefully, Hollywood will allow you to make a feature length film to show them how it's done.
Hey John how do you go about getting these screen grabs from Animate...I got Animate Pro and i'd love to know how to do it thanks.
When will the cartoon be finished`?
I can't believe I missed out on this. Really hope you will be back at CTN soon! ;_;
Hey, John, I have a question. Where did Ren and Stimpy singing the word "Memories..." come from? I'm just curious.

Couldn't visit CTH, but...
The first picture in this post, with a slightly modified phrase ("DO I HAVE TO TAKE MY BELT OFF?") would make a great T-shirt logo!
