What is Toonboom like? It's no doubt complicated when you first use it...
look forward to seeing them animated
Thats nice,I hope to see some spontaniousanimation.
Apparently, I'm hungry for some Huckleberry.
It would be great if could post this dialogues so we could practice too.
Sara, Toonboom is fairly easy to use and certainly no more difficult then any other digital program. Just do the (FREE) tutorials on the TB website, take notes, and you'll be good to go! That's how I learned! That and a combination of trial and error lol.-James N.
You guys are using Toonboom? I feel for you and your nervous systems. :(
I did a great digitally inked clean up of one of those Huckleberry Hound doodles on toonboom.
judy jetson is my fav cartoon character. their is a thousand subtle changes you can do to her design but still retain the feel of her character. John draws her hair different every time. i love how John sometimes draws george and jane in a negative two faced manner that contrasts with judy drawn as simply cute and pure. I always wanted her to have her own cartoon where she is like a teenage robot superhero but idk if john would approve of that idea.
Your antenna-butt George has just made my day.
Here is my humble atempt Your Text Here. How many hours should take to finish a walk cycle using the same "limited" style used on the Huckleberry Hound you posted on Facebook? I want to see how long will take me to animate Fred.
The elfish George Jetson, in an after-shave version.
It's all about the Schnozz.Wish I could see a JohnK drawing of Jimmy Durante.
Hey John, thanks for the doodles you made of the HB characters, all in your style. If only Ed, Dick, Bill, and Joe could see you now.Ed=Ed BennedictDick=Richard "Dick" BickenbachBill= William "Bill" HannaJoe= Joseph "Joe" BarberaSomeday, I'll copy all your doodles.Your friend and protege,Polyvios Christoforos
Really enjoy these drawings, especially the girls!<3
Probably discussing relationships is verging on discussing Religion. Lot's of people don't want to talk about it. Education is a bit as heated as Religion? Student Sins! The Bush "Glycerine" Song was on the Radio a bit ago. That is a Song that never phased me and I never particularly noticed. I was given a ticket and did see "No Doubt" and "Bush" maybe in 97?' I was looking around at people not particularly noticing the act. I saw a clip of "Glycerine" with the 2 of them singing together. I cried. I think because she looked especially fragile for some reason. I know someone with a love triangle situation. The Mother of his 1st child is his best friend. They grew up together and they never Married. He and his Wife are getting along now because they no longer live together and are open to getting re-Married. Probably a year ago it sounded a bit like "I'm calliing the Cops!" I think they did. I know an Older Man who said, "you just want to live with them so bad!" Referring to his Wife of how many years. He always talks about her in a positive way like she's everything to him. Proximity within Marriage is interesting to me. People that are together 24/7 are kinda different. They seem close. It's too bad "leaders" don't discuss relational health a bit to solve problems. Figure out what works best! Instead they ignore them and create more problems by "legalizing" same-sex "Marriage." The conclusion I'm drawing is that "leaders" want the Country to go to hell!
I didn't mean to, but "Psychology of Personality" is the Class I really fell asleep in. My head would bob up and down. I would wake up with my mouth open. That's embarrassing. Think about all the muted Personalities sitting in the lecture hall listening to the Professor talk about "getting a Personality." I don't remember her name. Her face. Anything. I think possibly Personality is the only thing that gets me to remember a name? Things people say. How they say it. How I feel when they say it. I seem to usually always remember a face. I have an Aunt whom I haven't seen in maybe 10 yrs. She looks the same to me. It's interesting how I'll see other people after time and they look different. They might look happier, more sad, wiped out, older. Taller. I think my blog Profile Pic looks like my Freshman in High School picture but better Personality wise. Not that I'm what I consider a fully developed Personality. I mentioned a relational book on my blog that I thought was alright which I had read a long time ago. I remember the Author's focus was on a person's true personality. He happened to be from Wisconsin!
I can watch clips of "Ren & Stimpy" and see Personality. Then there's clips where I don't see it so much. I would have to say possibly that the Ursula Character from "The Little Mermaid" had the most distinguished voice I've heard from a Character since High School? I'm pulling that off the top of my head and am not really sure. I don't even hardly notice "Brave" "Croods" "Shrek" on and on. I'm outdated? Is that the problem? Computer people still have to abide by certain rules of Story telling. What female Character does the John K Empire have that has Personality? "Mad Madame Mim" is one I have to look at again. I think the fat girl with the black bob in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" had personality. "Cruella De Ville." For some reason I liked this Jazz Band playing at a Wedding. I actually danced with this shark. I purposely stepped on his toes in an obnoxious knee jerk kind of way. I thought it was funny. Everyone eventually did a train so it was a more goofy setting. I don't think he had anyone else to hang out with for the evening and was bored. He talked about his relationships and how "they want your life!" He got Married. That wanting a person's life feeling has to be mutual. I wonder how many people settle when they get Married? I wonder if it's a lot? I have an acquaintance who joked about "people not being able to find anyone else." People wouldn't flinch probably if I Married him. I'm not going to Marry him. When I had a flat tire the repair guy said, "the most conservative people Sang at his Wedding." He was impressed by it. My Dad said one time "Weddings aren't for the 2 people they're for everyone else!" Society! I don't enjoy being around Divorced People. People that hate each other. People that are settling with each other. People that really aren't right for each other. I like being around Couples that enjoy each others Company! I feel comfortable around them. Not all the time actually. I was in a Bible Study that was exceptionally good when I was 23. The "Instructor's" Husband came in the room and stood next to her. They had a presence of "we're Married." It was interesting how he took the Men and she took the Women. Gender is ignored quite often today. What gender are "Ren & Stimpy?" What kind of person is John K? Character?
I'm talking about Character and it applies! There was a couple I thought seemed good together. I noticed how she looked at him when they sat across from each other. Cool. Not very approving in a way. Chin up. Staring. I didn't think she was nice. They Divorced in a short time. He said, "they got Married for all the wrong reasons." She probably should've modeled bikinis. An Old Woman said, "I knew it never would work, she lived with so many guys." I don't really think most young people flinch at living with multiple Partners anymore? Multiple Marriages? Do they have Personality? Are they themselves interesting People? How many years has John K been focusing in on "George Liquor" who is 1 person? There's no family as in "The Jetson's" and "The Flinstone's?" I actually think a bio of each character is ok to help people gain understanding of the characters. Play books have little Bio's. Quite often I feel people don't get recognition.
"I love how women are so strong in the ways men are weak, and weak where men are strong." This is a quote I just read which isn't funny in and of itself, but I agree. I have to look more for Gender Characteristics that go deeper than wearing a dress or pants as on a Restroom Sign.
Here's possibly the best Depeche Mode Song I've heard? Not sure? http://youtu.be/34RbYJN3zbE1 time while listening to people who weren't well known I heard Jesus playing the Instruments. That was a bit much. Intense. Didn't last very long. I wasn't the only person that heard it. Way too in sync. Jesus. Apply that to anybody working together. As an example Women working in a Book Store together. Everyone comes to work wearing pink by accident. They looked really great! They had the same mindset.
I don't really care what a person does. What they like doing. They have to own it. It has to be in them. It's easy for them to obsess and stay up all night working. That's my opinion.
When I think of "Cans Without Labels" I think of any brand name that isn't Disney or Dreamworks etc. Maybe that's not anywhere near the message intended, but that's how i think of it. I was watching my 5 yr old Nephew meet a 2nd Cousin whatever for the 1st time. My Nephew chased his older 2nd Cousin obsessively laughing. I used to do that. Personality comes out. "That's what I think" is what my Grandma used to say. She had a way of breathing and tapping her fingers on the table. The comment she remembers her Father making regarding her going to College was "what for?" I find that interesting. People don't have to make a loud noise in order for you to be aware of them. What they're thinking. One stroke victim said, "she could feel what people were thinking." People who are cheated on usually say "you can tell by how your Spouse treats you." Sometimes when you watch something you're really impressed that someone can capture subtle. That's where the real language is? Do I get most impressed with "Psychological Thrillers?" I don't think so. Being funny is a thriller. It's a lot of information to process. I'm not aware of all the communication going on between 5 yr olds and I'm aware of this. They communicate. I remember when I was 5 and sitting on the Bus very quietly with a little friend. Somehow the Wildest boy running up and down the aisle without a shirt on figured he could sit next to us. I actually did think he was cute. That's 5 yr old non-verbal communication. I still find that interesting. I didn't say anything to him. They say non-verbal body language is the most honest? My Grandma said, "she looked at her Husband and that was it." She was 13. I notice Home Schooled kids sometimes have a different stare. They stare intensely. My Grandma used to wonder "why certain Men didn't have their Wives with them?" One person who has Parents with a possibly very solid Marriage referred to them as "joined at the hip; they do everything together!" He kinda laughed. His Dad did have a glow one time when I talked to him. That reminds me of 1 Man I met when I was maybe 26 and he was probably 50. He glowed. I actually reached for him from across the table. He got up to walk away. Personally, I felt he was submitting to the Holy Spirit by walking away. I wanted what he had. He laughed at me. The way I talked. I asked a stroke victim one time "if this was a Communist Country?" He couldn't talk, but he laughed. Drug users have a body language. I was talking to my Mom about this stuff the other day. I don't think I know what I communicate? I'm not sure anyone does? That's what's funny? I had a Landlord say, "you're easy to read." That was funny. What's interesting is how a Man communicates when you're not his Daughter Nonverbally. When your Dad dislikes your Mother? How he communicates nonverbally. Monkey's are better at communicating that stuff than Human Characters? Ursula that's the one I remember being impressed by. You hear them from the next room. Walk over to look. Sit down and watch. Maybe watch again.
Here's a guy: "Subtle Mistakes Turn Women Off!" http://youtu.be/ikS_IL7F-mQHe seems confused, Talks too much, Has issues with little boys. He swears a lot. He's written a book and is calling himself a "Counselor." The most Authentic talking he did was while talking about, "his shitty childhood" in another tape.
"Beware of Women Who Go Along!" http://youtu.be/ffmkyczhICYI agree with this to a point. I think Men need to ultimately make the Grand effort though. I think this "Counselor" has dated too much. Doesn't know what he wants. Indecisive. That's a turn off.
I was thinking of "The Love Connection" and how that was kinda funny. http://youtu.be/gY3hy39gpLA is an "In Living Color" impersonation of Mike Tyson which I think is funny. The other 2 aren't that funny.
kinda like this "Overly Confident Gay Man" http://youtu.be/FxDJAeABxNU
I watched a couple clips of "Sleeping Beauty" last night. Guess what I was totally impressed by? The walk cycle! It almost looked real. They didn't have Harmony? Everything was so smooth. If anyone looks at any of my "Animations" on my blog they look like shit! I know "Alladdin 2" was one where I really noticed a decline in quality. I think that's all part of the Story. There's a Story to it!
My Judy clean up! The carpet match the Judy Jetson
The elfish George Jetson on an after-shave version.
If John K thinks I comment too much, I think his Blog needs Organization. A more minimalist approach. less is more. I was looking at the "Wally Whimsy" Character. The big belly sketch is nice. The outlined drawings aren't. "Ren & Stimpy" was the Show John K had? Why hasn't he had another one? Why did that one end like it did? He has a bit of a fan base? Wilma and Betty had no boobs. They're kinda Classic Characters. Iconic? I never went to a strip club and I don't watch Porn. Some Music Videos are what I consider Pornographic. John K Cartoons are as well. I read something by a guy who talked about "not being able to get a Woman to stay." It made me think of a John K Cartoon.
I could take a tooth brush and scrub my garage floor. How much time and effort would that take? It would be a waste of time! If John K isn't as successful as he should be, I don't benefit. That's coming from a purely selfish point of view. I'm part of the Audience. Efficiency is really important. Sometimes there's a method to the madness and a person needs to be left alone. Other people don't see the efficiency, but it's there. I think I'm in line with people who start multiple tasks at once. It's more stimulating. I need to be more like that. It's more efficient. You get bored or it's not working and switch to something else. I have no problem if John K started multiple "clips" at the same time. Not just "Cans" they then evolve together. An idea might come up for "Cans" that wouldn't have been there if "Cans" had been the sole focus for 4 weeks or whatever. I noticed on "Love Connection" the other day the Animated hearts. You don't see much animation anymore in everyday advertising? I personally don't find the 3D Geico Gecko that interesting. His voice is soooo boring.
There's a fairly recent clip with Bill Maher discussing "Linkedin as a site for the unemployed." He is funny at times. I noticed a quote by John K that, "he never found a job on linkedin." I'm a Driver. I noticed Bill Maher discuss "dissing the driver" one time. I called a 17 yr old boy on it one time. He did start laughing with his head down. I vented about "my rejection issues."

Hey Jon, how much do you generally charge for commissions? Anyway I could e-mail you about a project I have in mind? Thanks!
I read some book reviews of "Why I'm Not a Christian." Not sure the Author understands the definition of Christian? The Bible sorta draws a line between right and wrong. Hypocrite and friend. I find it interesting. A Book you can study your whole life!"Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstainedby the world." - James 1:27"If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless."- James 1:26I'm a very quiet person at times but am capable of talking possibly too much. Maybe I don't respect John K? I don't particularly find the comments posted on the John K blog to be interesting or more valuable than anything I say. There was a Woman I read about who accidentally had both breasts removed by the Hospital. She was around my age and in surgery for a different procedure. That is horrific! Inexcusable! Angelina Jolie gets the BEST Healthcare. She had the Cancer Gene and chose to have both breasts removed. They posted her Noble story all over the Media. If I were Angelina Jolie possibly John K would not only post every gosh darn elementary comment I make but he'd go above and beyond basic courtesy? I'm glad to be a non famous girl. I think people should be as successful as they can be and do the rest of us a favor, but you can't lose that perspective. It has to be ingrained. Then I have to ask myself why am I commenting on John K's blog? I've let other people know online if I like their drawings and what not. They reply. John K's either reading my comments and not posting them or deleting them entirely? It would be common courtesy towards a common girl if he'd let me know how much he disdains me in a Manly more direct fashion.
As a common girl who's not a Reporter I had access to the Story about the Woman who had both breasts removed accidentally. They didn't make a big enough deal of it in my view. Maybe she cried more when she sees how Angelina Jolie was handled by the Media. As a Nursing Assistant while on break I read in a Nursing Magazine about a Female Vegetable becoming Pregnant by a Male Aid. The Article was titled, "Born In A Diaper." Apparently the "Staff" didn't realize the Female Vegetable was Pregnant until she gave Birth. Quite horrific. What's the story behind Sody Pop and her entourage? Can you imagine a Female who drew Peckers and posted doodles all over her blog? How does that look to a Man?
"Understanding Your Past and Future Relationships?"http://youtu.be/cSKPeLKMHc8I think this guy asks good questions for one to ask themselves in order to make Sound Decisions. John K's Blog comment "what's he gonna do with it?" In reply to his his own naked girl drawing he did for a guy at (CTN?) Concerns me.
EY JK! Ren and Stimpy is the best cartoon ever!! Capische!?!?
"I was teased quite frequently during my teen years by girls in school, so much so that I was a diehard misogynist by the time I left college. how many guys in this hyper-sexualized culture of ours can say they're still virgins? I feel as though I've been saving myself for nothing." - 34 yr old MaleI would never be attracted to or Marry a Misogynist who views Women as Nothing!
dear mr kricfalusi. I just recently discovered your fantastic blog. You so generously and honestly share your advice with the rest of us! It's amazing how you always believed in how a cartoon should look like and actually made it all happen. May i say i have always been a huge fan of ren and stimpy cartoons and that they blew away everything that was current at that time (and still do..). I hope you will accept me to this blog so i can give comments to various subjects. If you check out my blog there's nothing on there because i just had to make it in order to be able to comment here. I am currently in the proces of reviving my long lost love of drawing comics and trying to make a short animation while i'm at it. But i noticed when i actually started making one, i still had a lot to learn. Sure, i always had a talent to draw well constructed and appealing but knew nothing about acting, staging, painting backgrounds etc.. And that is how i stumbled upon this blog and the info here is just amazing. You are just an amazing guy for sharing all of this with the rest of the world!! Oh yeah i am not retarded, i just live in belgium. Hope to get accepted!! Byee
Those are some right smart doodles, man.
