It's sad to see all your early designs and character poses (really amazing) and after see the trailer. Standarized designs, poor animation...
BAhaha!! the breeder turkey is so discusting!
Hey, John Kricfalusi, it me again, and I just wanna say thank you for the awesome storyboards you did for Free Birds. And as for the breeding turkey hen and Playfowl, I just saw them comin', but I like 'em!My favorite part in the trailer is the one where Reggie yells when somethin' flew into his eye, going into a wild take.
1000x better than the final designs for the movie. What a shame they didn't use your stuff fully.
The early Regie looks like one of the other turkies. Sadly, I didn't see your name in the credits. They ripped off your design.
No idea what kind of rate it would be, but I sure hope you got paid for the time. I'd rather see the film theses should have inspired. Instead, we get characters that all look like the work of one designer, and more emphasis on what celebrities are voicing them (hit the bricks, professional voice-over actors, people want to see a light bulb-headed turkey with Owen Wilson's voice). It's really standard for these films to go through this in development. The Pixar DVDs often have galleries of the early character sketches, and they're ridiculously different stylistically from anything that ever ends up on screen.Maybe they get an idea or two from them, but you end up wondering why they even try some of the approaches they do. Not that they couldn't realize them in CG, just that they never do. It's always brought back to the standard Pixar, or Dreamworks look. Rango was a little different, but all the other ones wind up in the same style. Yet they always seek out artists with distinct hand-drawn styles to do early studies. That's why I hope they all get a little check out of it, because they sure won't get their work onscreen.
Hey, John Kricfalusi, it's me again. Sorry to bother ya but, can you please give me some more of your awesome artwork, designs and sketches for that awesome movie that's out now in theaters?
John- I'm curious- did they use your designs on the sergeant/ general character in the movie? It sure looks like your style.
