Happy Consumption Day

TOONBOOM SALE for Thanksgiving

By the way Toonboom is having a sale so if you wanna buy "Animate" which is what I use, it's on sale for $349 - about half price.

2D Animation Software - Toon Boom Animate | Toon Boom Animation

WARNING: I have to warn you though, that this is version 3 and if you want to work with someone who has the last version - version 2, THEY AREN'T COMPATIBLE!

Don't ask me why, it's like they want everyone to pay twice for the same product.

But if you are just starting from scratch and want to animate your own stuff, I recommend it.

Don't be fooled by the more expensive "Animate Pro", I don't think it does anything more than just plain "Animate". Maybe it has more gimmicks for people who don't draw but want to simulate animation with puppetry or tweening tricks.

Live Interview at CTN today - 10:45 am - 11:30

Will Finn is going to interview me in the City Ballroom

at

10:45 am

although - check the schedule when you get there because everything seems to change every day.

...the interview I think is about the sort of back story of modern "creator driven" cartoons came to be.

Starting with Bakshi's Mighty Mouse but even a bit of what happened to lead up to it.

And of course Ren and Stimpy stuff too.

You can also hang with some of my current crew of animators.

We'll have our Hardcover collection of famous 90s comics we drew handy. Buy one and get it signed.

Jim Smith will have his amazing sketchbooks on hand.

We'll also have assorted stickers and cartoon souvenirs for your collection.

Look for these banners to find us.
I am also supposed to do a live demo on Saturday - I'm not sure of what yet, maybe some tumbling or tap dancing.

On Sunday the talented Disney animator and director will interview me and you can pipe in with questions and shoe throwing.

Here's the schedule of 3 planned events but we also have a booth that's open all weekend.

Gallery Show in Laguna of My Collection

Hi folks

I have an art show starting Thursday at beautiful Laguna Beach. Come take a swim in the ocean with a prehistoric Oarfish and then wash up on land and roll into the LCAD Art Gallery.

Here's some stuff that won't be there just because I had so much stuff they had to weedle it down to only the most glistening tasty development drawings, storyboards, layouts, animation, cels, backgrounds, toys and more from over 30 years of wackiness! Not just my drawings, but also work from many of the gifted animators, painters and cartoonists I've worked with.

These are from some development I did on a pitch of Dr. Seuss' Happy Birthday To You for my pals at Reel FX.

There'll be lots of stuff like this, but I don't wanna spoil the surprises! You'll have to come see for yourself.

Check out this wonky chick I drew in 1980...lots more stuff at the show that you may never see anywhere else!

THE RENOWNED CURATORS
Andrea Harris,
The Original Art of Basil Wolverton: From the Collection of Glenn Bray
Dave Kuhn,

and Auralynn When

are curating the show and doing a wonderful job of making it express the joy and exuberance that is the modern cartoon world (at least the one I'm in).

Thursday Night (tomorrow) I'll be there for the opening reception and you are all invited. You can fraternize with the likes of Jim Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Harkey-Kedzie, Gabe Del Valles, Alex Salyer, Aaron Chen and many more cartoonists, animators and discerning art lovers of the highest caliber of taste.  If you can't make the reception this week, don't shoot yourself yet because the show runs from now through Christmas. Even Santa is gonna take some time out to see the development of the Spumco style laid out in chronological order before his twinkly eyes.
