The proboscis monkey looks like one of your caricatures of Uncle Eddie. Great stuff!
I like your proboscis monkey! I have been drawing that species for years!
Do you do these while watching monkeys on TV or something or from memory?
This is awesome ! You just have to make a cartoon using these !
I know you might argue against what I say here, but you've got Milt Gross beat by a long shot!
Walt Disney once said that monkeys should never be animated, they're already funny. You've found good reason to animate them. Your drawings are brilliant.
Hey Look, there's Stimpy!
Walter Lantz made a series of cartoons starring a monkey or chimpanzee trio in the 1930s. They were so awful that many believed for years that monkeys should never be animated.
Walter Lantz made a bunch of terrible chimpanzee cartoons in the 1930s. Many thought monkeys of any kind should never appear in animated cartoons after that. Disney made a decent orangutan cartoon in 1967 but the argument seems to be that live action works better with apes.
I spy Monkey Stimpy.
I kind of agree with Walt, Michael.
Ahh, unique monkeys that would drive CGI motion capture people ape. ;-)Will a JK monkey grace CANS WITHOUT LABELS?
Monkeyshines! I say.
What about Gorilla My Dreams?
Real monkeys are always funnier than animated cartoon monkeys, UNLESS the animated cartoon monkey has a Jimmy Durante nose and a needle dick boner.
I want to be a monkey!!They look nice and stupid.Nice fun drawings!
Man you're awesome! Thank you for being awesome
Man you're awesome!
John K should be do the character design for the next Donkey Kong Country game.
I want to ink and clean up all of them!
For me, the monkey scene/song in "Jungle Book" was the most memorable in the entire Movie. I haven't seen it in years. "Lion King" had monkeys. I especially like the red ink drawings here. Monkeys with attitude.
The funniest monkeys are baboons. Proboscis monkeys are just disturbing. Apes are okay, but not as funny as baboons.
This made me think of "Barrel of Monkeys." That would be cute/funny! They were always nameless faceless toys.
I think these are some of the better drawings here????George Liquor, Idiot Boy, Sody Pop are less interesting to me? These Monkeys have personality. Maybe 1 month ago I was watching a newer 3D Disney clip of 3D monkeys doll things void of personality with my 4 yr old Nephew. I'm pretty sure Researchers study Monkey behavior for creating Solitary Confinement in Prison for humans? I used to work with 4 persons with developmental disabilities in a group home. 1 guy named Nick introduced himself by crawling up to me like a Monkey cocked his head and grabbed my hand and smelled it/held on. He was 30 and kinda little. Smaller head. Very happy excitable person. The 2 words he would yell out were "Cookie" and "Doggie" and then laugh. Pretty much nobody could talk except Scream, Laugh, Point a finger and yell "Car" Daniel always talked about "that crap." He was in his 70's and had had a fever as a child. He remembered how to drive across Country and get places. We had to leave Restaurants sometimes due to behavior and diaper situations. It was a scene. They were unique. I also worked at a Nursing Home. 1 lady was pushing 100. She squinted at you/stared and screamed. Made noises. She didn't look human. No teeth. Constantly chomping licking. One of the L.P.N's said, "I would get in a lot of trouble for drawing people." "Hippa Violation." Hildegarde had a huge hat. She was 100 yrs old and was so cute. She babbled. Elsie was maybe 65 lbs and wore a pink silk nightie everyday all day. She always looked in the hand held mirror and said, "oh my hair."Her head was practically a perfect little ball. She was exactly like a hermit crab waving her arm while sitting in a wheelchair in her doorway. She'd say "come on" because she wanted to be in bed 1st. Once a week the ladies had their hair done in rollers. Nobody had jobs or any real purpose? Roommates would fight. Siblings found themselves living together again and would fight. This time there was dementia and Carbon monoxide poisoning damage. Conversations didn't really make sense. People were stressed. It made me think of Acting and I was a Nursing Assistant. I don't regret the experience. Maybe 2 weeks ago I said to my Instructor "I felt like I was in the Jungle lost." Recently a fellow student said, "it sounds like an ambush" and I did feel exactly like a caged Monkey a few days ago when I had to sit with 2 Deans, 1 "Counselor", 2 Teachers, and people monitoring me on a screen. I had to blurt out at the meeting that, "I always hated School." My 50 yr old Male acquaintance summed it up perfectly; "sounds like they have too much time on their hands." I wouldn't doubt I was filmed. I had anxiety. Had a hard time sleeping the night before. The Dean sounded like he was expecting that. He said, "do you want a Diploma or Skills?" He criticized me for having a 13" Mac. I had taken a chance and asked someone prior "if my Scholarship could transfer to a different School?" Also, a 300lb +Teacher filed a complaint against me and that's why they had the "Meeting." I had told the Teacher that, "I liked Passionate Teachers that cared!" He has fallen asleep on me at least twice while talking to me since last Semester. The Dean talked about "what a Career this guy has had" in the meeting. Commenting on blogs is probably very tacky? Big no no! The only reason I'm bothering to comment is because I like the Monkey drawings.
John: You have the Howie Post gift - Funny on sight.
