I managed to find another doodle pad at the dollar store but It's a brand I hadn't used before.
It's a Crayola pad but unlike the the whole wheat newsprint I like this paper is smooth and slippery.
I'm not used to drawing on it yet. My pen keeps sliding off past where I want the lines to go. My first doodles were especially crappy.

Here's a lady I saw on the news yesterday. The scratchy sort of realistic sketch (#1) towards the center of the page was my first attempt to analyze her head shape and structure.
Then I did a couple more trying to loosen up and exaggerate her.
