Treehouse of Horror Storyboards 1

Originally this cartoon was supposed to be 3 and a half minutes and there are a lot more storyboards that happen before this one starts - but another story for another blog adventure.

I ended up having to squeeze a heck of a lot of action and story into a very short amount of time. I REALLY wanted to do the original longer intro because that was more story and character based. If you're interested I can post some of that stuff later.

Yeah! Post the whole story!
The intro was awesome, John! Thanks for letting me assist some of the animation, it was a great and funny job.
I have one question... there were two backgrounds at the end, of the house, that were kind of strange, like if they were made with watercolour pencil or something... they seem to be from another style, they really caught my attention... is there some explanation for that background style?

Thanks for sharing these, John. This was the best couch gag I've seen in a long time - absolutely gorgeous!

Is there a story behind the name Frank Grimes?

Oh, what a difficult question. Should we want more? SHOULD WE?

Yes, please do! Is that why some of the scenes had dense scenes and animation, but rather short in length? Loved it regardless.

In the 70's there was a last gasp of fun animation with the series Roobarb, which had surreal plots and animators having fun with their scenes going off model, as crude as the execution was, since construction was pretty much dead and buried by then.

Thanks for the boards! I thought it looked great! I'd like to see the other boards/animation you have from the 3 minute version.

That was a fun couch gag sequence. I hope you get a chance to animate the full version someday.

Great work on the couch intro. I thought it was honestly the best part of the show (I haven't kept up with the Simpsons in literally YEARS, but usually tune in for the Halloween shows). I was very proud to see and hear my friend Jessie Oliver was involved with the coloring and cleanup of some of the opening sequence.
