Hi john! i'm practicing with some human expressions and digital inking.i know it isn't the best work around here, but i wanted to shared it with you, maybe some observations, be hard, please. my name is leo, from venezuela, check this illustration i made yesterday for a party
i'm practicing this digital inking on illustrator, but my home pc is freaking slowly, so the wacom makes some mistakes and sometimes the lines aren't too smooth.. for the background i tryied to use neutral, complex colors, to make the characters pop up from the illo.
well, i had some time without checking your blog, now i gotta do the homework and keep drawing.
thanks soooooooooooo much
btw. my email is lasangredecristotienepoder@yahoo.com (tricky, isnt'it? =)or ilustreishon@gmail.com
(Hey, please do a cartoon wit that beautiful old unrefined, molten glass plate effect for underwater scenes like the one they used in Hare Ribbin', would'ja... Yep, I don' wanna see anymore Flash, I wanna see the dirt on the glass pressure-plate from photography, watch a speck travel some frames, and see more dirt on the multiplane element. Because it's there, like the needle in the blank groove... I'm in no position to make requests but I'm making a request...)
This is a great example of nickel-and-diming - the government enforcing all these little bullshit laws in order to get their hands on our money to pay back all the debt they've incurred thanks to their financial mismanagement!
haha.. how much you think those cells would sell for on ebay?
hey John, i was wondering if you could do a post on producers. i just did a new post on my blog about some of my favorite shorts, and i've noticed since i was a kid that a lot of my favorite classic cartoons were produced by Fred Quimby.
Gosh, those New Kids on the Block, with their bright coloured clothes and dynamic poses are just so...so....ICONIC!
But seriously, what I find particularly galling is the cookie-cutter approach that makes them practically indistinguishable from each other due to the complete lack of any caricature and striving for individual likeness. It makes me yearn for that better era of TV cartoons from the 60s where The Beatles were so delightfully caricatured in a simple, very stylized cartoon fashion, resulting in each one of The Fab Four being instantly recognizable. Though the animation on that series was admittedly a little awkward, it was just nice to see that celebs could be really caricatured back then instead of being portrayed as the bland nonentities of today's animated mediocrities.
If you watch the history channel, the show about drug laws you'd learn that the first drug laws made for african americans. That law is stupid. Why don't they arrest drug dealers. ??

The New Kids on the Block recently reunited for their middle age decrepitude tour.
those cels, are those stuff you worked on?
Please tell me this is sarcasm:
"And here are some gifts from me. I came across these gorgeous cels in my research for 80s animation."
Ah, the 80's. Where everything looks and feels like it were over 18 years old.
Don't quote me on that.
Nice, finally! and yuck.
- trevor.
about time that was illegalized.
Too bad you can't be arrested for lumpypants.

There's a great new TV channel that plays music all day, its called MTV,
its totally awesome.
Look what the cat drag in!
nice to see you here :D
i want to know if you have those sexy drawing girls doing perv stuff, i mean... WE WANT TO SEE PORN FROM YOU!!!
those cels ain't so hot
The Rambo cartoon I'd forgotten all about that, now I want to again.
Rambo with a Lama or the Pope!
Damn, your toys fill me with terror.

"Your [sic] a cracker and ain't got shit better to do."
Oh if I had a nickel...
Those are some great Rambo hands in the second Rambo cell.
Failed comic book artists have to have SOME place to work!
I'm less offended by baggy pants than the only people who were arrested for it are black.
White boys wear their pants really baggy too.
Wow that law is retarded. Is it even real?
You are doing the animation community a fine service by buying up those 80's cells.
This way, no-one else can get the chance to buy one and mistake it for something good looking.
So the state of Florida decides that it can arrest guys for wearing saggy pants. I hope there's a retaliation and puffy pleated pants get banned next.

word up!
That's unfair. How come they arrested those kids for wearing their pants a little low, but Rambo gets to walk around with no shirt on?
On the subject of bad 80s saturday morning cartoon art, I'd just love to see you're take on this.
And I thought those days had come to a close.
Well...at least you guys won't have any excuse to fall back on the old "minstrel" look when you draw black men, now...

I'd hate this Rambo and New Kids on the Block stuff if only it managed to scrounge up enough aesthetic quality to make me care about it.
Dear John K,
I realise that you are very busy but I was just wondering if you will be able to answer my questions sent in my previous e-mail.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Daryl-Rhys Taylor
In regards to kids getting arrested for wearing baggy pants, it's about damned time, I say! I swear I get stupider every time I'm exposed to it.
Also, I'd like to see you draw the second guy on the top row of mugshots.
