Fan Mail 2 - Protect Your toy and Art Collection

Irony of Ironies.
Fan Mail 1 Post
The very day I asked folks to please not send their valuables to me personally in the mail someone mailed me these.

And a request for a free custom drawing on fancy-ass canvas (which dealers like to ask for so they can resell it).

At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon (which I sort of am) I'd just like to remind everyone that I have created many collectible things that I will cheerily sign for you that can be found at my little store.
John K Store
The management of the store and my social media is done by my very capable assistant who will see that you receive anything you order and have me sign it for you.

There is lots of original art there for you too:

Please don't send me your valuable collectibles

If you send anything you obtained somewhere else please don't risk losing it by sending it to me personally. I am too ADHDed to keep track of it and you may not get it back.

Believe me, I love my  fans and will really be thrilled to help you add to your cartoon art and toy collections. That's why I hired somebody just to see that it all gets to anyone who wants it.

I also have seen toys and art I have signed for people I thought were fans turn out to be dealers who then sell the stuff on ebay or at conventions  for outrageous prices.

Being A Collector Myself I Understand Genuine Nostalgia

That's why I keep my prices reasonable and offer them to the fans who - like me, aren't rich and just like to have nice keepsakes and collectibles to decorate their house with.

Here are a few of mine:

Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

West Point Graduation Speech

Anyone watch today?  Boy, he's getting funnier looking every day. And thicker.

 Swayback.
The Cadets looked sharp though.

I think I am finally getting used to this overly processed paper. I have to use a more controlled speed of my line strokes cause the paper is so slippery.

 Speaking of funny looking...

Drawing Rut so Coloring Instead

My drawings lately lack inspiration so I thought I'd take some old marker sketches and color them for a change of pace. Here's one in progress:

Just to prove my drawing is rusty here are some of the current crop of crap:

I've been watching a lot of nature shows and freeze framing them to study some animals more closely to see if I can learn something new to inspire me.

Drawing realistically doesn't come easy to me. I get lost in the details and struggle with anatomical structure. The Lord sure made life complicated for cartoonists.
Hey did you ever see a "southern streaked tenrec"? I just found out about them the other day on a show about Madagascar.
Even my caricatures are rusty. These 2 are in my George Woodbridge style.
Here's some lady from a commercial. She doesn't really have a neck this long but she had interesting hair.
I think this one of a news reporter turned out a little better.

Elephants and Lions

I was watching a nature show about India the other day and drew some quick sketches of elephants while eating breakfast.

My realistic drawings are admittedly primitive but they give me a jumping off point from where I can create more cartoony versions. Here's some half-way:

And some in a 60s TV sort of style:

I don't know why I was also drawing lions since there aren't any in India, but what the heck, here they are.

Fan Mail

Thanks for your letters

I’d like to thank you for the abundant fan mail I get in the mail.

I like reading the letters and apologize for not being able to answer every one directly.

Save your art and souvenirs

May I suggest that if you do send mail that you don’t include art or other stuff that you’d like returned because like I said I can’t respond to each and every letter.

I’d hate to see you buy prints and things from someone else and lose ‘em in the mail.

Getting something signed and guaranteed for delivery

If you’d really like something signed and delivered the sure way to do it is to order something directly from

There are lots of fun cartoon souvenirs I designed especially for fans to choose from.

My assistant will make sure I sign (and/or personalize if you request) any art, posters or toys you order and get them to you.

I really do appreciate the wonderful sentiments in your letters so please don’t think I am ignoring you.

*Beware of imposters who sell you prints while appearing to rep me. I see that someone is taking prints I designed especially for fans and selling them themselves.

Thanks again!
