Rusty Caricatures

Well sometimes they just come out boring. I apologize.

The best reason for animators to do caricatures is to help us break from formula animation shapes, features and expressions. It's a long road though.

I sometimes like to think that modern celebrites were put here on Earth just for the cartoonist's amusment.

Well maybe they were boring for you, but I liked them! Especially the Cameron Diaz and Anne Hathaway ones.

Also, why is cartoon thrills down? Whenever I try to open the website, it tells me "acess denied".

Cartoon thrills? You mean the store? Which part?

Are you able to see the page with the animated shirts?

Your pal,

That Anne Hathaway one is fantastic!

These are some wonderful grins.

Anne Hathaway seems ripe for more caricaturing.

Like the cameron Diaz too.

Would you please take a minute to see my work? http://lukesnerdspot.blogspot.com/

Those are just my very first animations and to help fill my room-for-improvement area, I'd like some feedback if you have a minute or two. Your input means a lot.

Hey john, for caricatures like the one you did of me- do you do an underlying construction drawing, or do you do it all by eye?

SandraRivas said...

With celebrities like them, I think it's too easy for cartoonists.

Hey John,

The website www.cartoonthrills.org is the one that's not working. It is the website you use to upload frame-by-frameable clips, and you even have your music videos and commercials on there.

And the online store works great too, by the way.

Hi Blake

if the store is working then the cartoonthrills is working.

I just checked and it's working on this end...

I'm no technical expert though.

What isn't working for you? Specifically? You can't see the animated clips?

One thing that is irking me is that the latest versions of browsers use a new quicktime that won't let you frame by frame through the clips.

Unlike the old one that works great. I don't know why internet technology seems to be going backwards.

Anne Hathaway's face is like a droopy Salvador Dali prop. Her eyes seem to be ready to pour out of her face. her lips too. maybe they need some crutches like in the Dali paintings.

After looking for a Dali image to post, I see someone's sorta had this idea already...

Hey John, do you construct the forms differently when doing caricatures?

Andrés Sanhueza said...

I believe that Blake is referring to the main cartoonthrills.org domain without any subdirectory, which indeed, has no content. JohnK host some videoclips in the domain that has been posted on the blog, but the main domain itself at the moment has no actual site besides the store.

Please, do more Hathaway and Diaz! They have unique faces!

(And yes: I think they are dogs!)

I've been trying to buy a shirt from the store to no avail. The page loads up fine, including the Al Hirt song, I can browse the different products, but when I click on the 'but now!' button, a new tab opens and after about 20 seconds loading it gives this error message:

This web page is not available.

The web page at http://www.celebritymerch.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=JKGEORGELIQUOR&Category_Code=John-K-Stuff might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

I've been trying for about a week. I thought it was maybe because I live in Blighty.

I sent your comment to the fulfillment house that actually hosts the final site that sells the stuff.

Let's see what they say.
Sorry about that! It frustrates the crap out of me.

They said they fixed it so all IP addresses could access the site now.

Whatever the Hell that means.

That is my own server where I store stuff for me. It's not public.

I just upload to my blog whatever I want to show.

I tried the store on my old Mac PPC using Firefox 3.6.13 and everything seems to work, if slowly.

Wrt caricatures, these are infinitely superior to the cardboard cutouts I just watched in the "HeMan and Sherah Chrismas Special). Why watch that thing? To make sure I know exactly what JK's talking about wrt the barrel's bottom of 70 - 80's animation.

Thanks, I think I figured it out. I used to go through cartoonthrills to easily find all of your uploads, instead of going through your blog posts.

I hope you knew the home page of cartoonthrills was public before!

Also, I am able to view your store and videos, just not through your now private website.

I saw the title of this post and, thinking it was something else, got excited.

Fish Kardashian and Anne Hathaway oh man! Keep up the great work!

Blake, Cody, those Anne Hathaway and Cameron Diaz?? Cool! Yeah, the last looks like here...for modern clebrioties, that would include the Scooby gang [did the SAME DESIGNER just DO all those ugly 70d HB designs??:)]

Pokey said...

Okay, the top almost could be Cameorn DF., the bottom definitely IS Anne Hathaeway, as three have said [lake, Cody, GG, Android, thomas] have said..onyl, how is everyone sure who is being caricatured, at least save for Hasthaway who's CLEARLY at bottom.
