If you wanna learn to draw Jimmy, do it the same way you studied George. Copy the first few poses exactly, proportions, construction etc. to get used to him. The drawings near the bottom are harder because the poses are more complicated, so don't start there.

This is my favorite face of Jimmy above. I've never been able to recapture his joyful look of discovery with a hint of evil.

THAT HAS TO BE THE COOLEST PROGRESSION EVER. Seriously. He's like silly puddy, or something.
Everyone's favorite idiot!
Jimmy with that knife... I wouldn't want to be in the same room as him during that time. Scary stuff... ha.
I can definately see the progress in his development over the years. Geez! I wouldn't trust him with a knife.
Man, I remember seeing some of these yeeears back in articles about Ren & Stimpy and your other ideas.
Are these chronological? I think they are; there's this point about five drawings in where everything starts looking a lot more dimensional...
Hey John,
Who drew that one at the top? If it's you, I'd be surprised.
Love all of these, but my favorite ( maybe because it's so foreign ) is the first one.... what interesting theories and ideas!
If that top drawing IS yours, then it shows what you've been saying about the conservativeness settling in after an artist leaves their twenties. That Jimmy at the top I think has less to do with solid construction per se and more to do with artistic flair.
It looks like how I imagine Jimmy would've appeared in COAL BLACK.... I dunno.
Would that be a fair assessment or am I just wrong?

yes i believe the caption on the T-shirt with Jimmy with the knife said "Jimmy shouldn't have sharp things"
Jimmy's so beautiful. He's made of his own stuff.
jimmy and the bug, actually makes the bug look scrumchous :)
JOHN!
Would you mind taking a peek at my
own crap while I get my Jimmy drawings ready? It has a lot of Kricfalusi influence.
THIS IS THE LINK
AHHH!! what the heck is on Jimmy's hand in that first picture? What IS that thing?
I love the club foot in the second one.

I think it's the Machete.

check out these cool animation records...
John I made drawings of storyboard verisions of George Liquor. Just for the hell of it.
Here it is.
Was Jimmy intended to be a caricature of Howdy Doody? I see a lot of similarites.
I never drew Jimmy, sure gonna try. Looks like fun.
Im sure wanna apply in the future for layout. Allready practising on that but for now I hope I can ink for the show.
My favorite!
Very cool how he has evolved. The early drawings are more angular and tight, while the later stuff is much more fluid and loose. I like the fluid look best because it accentuates his "sillyness". (Like Kali said.."silly putty") I see some Tex in there, but also a lot of Don Martin. The style is very original IMHO. It's almost as if you used the "rubberhose" style as a benchmark, but said "How can I take this further...what would this style evolve into?"
Silly character + silly putty = perfect!
Hard to draw and hard to sculpt too! :)

Jimmy has a kissable face.
Smack!
Hi John.
here is my first Jimmy draw
John:
Will the inkers be required to ink traditionally with pens or in Flash?

Hi John! Here are my first three Jimmy drawings. I'll make more attempts tomorrow.
Hi John,
I tried some inking like you suggested. I inked before, but this is my first attempt of digital inking using Adobe Illustrator.

That one at the top of the post looks kind of like a Hirschfeld version of Jimmy!
(I have to agree with you,the expression on his face in one with the knife is priceless!)
'Ol George is sure gonna kick his butt though when he has to take the neighbor kid to the hospital!
Hi John.
I'm not sure if Jimmy is gonna be on the show, but I've gave him a shot. These are my drawings.
I've also made some Georges, but I don't know if you like them or not, please send me your comments and advices so I can make them better.
Just posting to say I'm still interested in working on the show, and I'll get some more stuff up on my blog soon with Jimmy in it. I just have to finish up a job I got last week, and when you're promised a bonus if you complete it within a week, it's tough not to devote all your extra time to it :).
I'm still getting used to the idea of storyboarding loosely again. Once you've been trained to draw clean and on-model it's hard to break away and just let drawings form from the tip of your pencil.
Hey John! Are you still checkin out sketches? Check these out!

Some Jimmy stuff here.
Great. Nearly three posts in a row in this topic.
Here are some more boards for your approval. It's short, and isn't based on any of the outlines or stories. I just drew it on the fly.
Spumco boards seem to be rough but I hope there's not a "too rough," because I've seen the old R&S boards and some of them are pretty tight.
thanks for the Jimmy drawings, John.
Ask me please, what inspired you to create the character of Jimmy the Idiot boy? 'cause you're the Jerry Lewis of cartoons.
he is purely an idiot than Goofy and Dopey combined.
