Heh

Always a treat reading what you have to post, look forward to more in the future :)

Is the third one Bill O'Reilly? It made me want to throw up, so I think it is. Bill O'Reilly has a vomitous effect on me.

Your caricatures are so dead-on...That Bill O Reilly one is hillarious. Can't blame people for arguing John...You're a controversial figure!

Hi John, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate that you have started this BLOG. You have really made me think about things, see things, acknowledge things that have been pretty much brow beaten out of me after being in the industry for 16 years. Somethings I was aware of, the way the exectutives want things done, other things you are pointing out are things that I just never really noticed, forgot or took for granted. I've been guilty of a lot of the crimes you point out as well, can't be helped, I have become a cog in a machine. But your insight has really helped reinvigorate my interest in animation. It's reminded me why I loved it in the first place and has given me reason to improve myself. I just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me and many others like myself. Those of us who have lost our vision due to systematic requests from suits and focus groups. That being said I will continue to sell out until I can do things my way, but now at least I'm not giving up on doing it my way someday.

Just checking.

THe first one is Gary Busey right?

IMO you didn't do enough with Bill O'Reilly's picture. I would've drawn bricks hitiing his head or arrows being shot through his head or birds shitting on his head or........ Bill O'Reilly's an ass. >:P

About the George Clooney picture, you actually porteayed him as handsome. You didn't distort him grotesquely this time. Did he send some guys to your house after that pic. of him eating a hot dog?

Hi, just found out you´ve got a blog and i´m very inspired with what you´ve got here, i´ve almost read everthing you´ve posted, hell i just wanted you to know i think you´re a fucking genius, back in the day i thought you´d be like, impossible to reach, but now it´s great that there may be a possibility for you to know that through your work you have changed the lives of many of my friends and my own in a big way. Since this may be just plain fan-talk i think i won´t saying anything else, just that i thank you.

My guesses:
1) Hugh Grant
2) Sarah Jessica & George Clooney
3) Bill O' Reilly
4) Bo Bice(American Idol)
5) ?(smile looks familiar)& Russel Crowe

I just realized I watch way too much T.V.

I know it's supposed to be Bill O'Reilly (I don't get Fox News on my analogue Rogers Cable), but, for the life of me, I think the third one looks an awful lot like Canadian character actor Colin Mochrie.

Eebs said...

The girl in the last picture looks like her:

http://imdb.com/name/nm0001231/

But I doubt it is. I'm not too great at celebrities. I agree with Wicks, re: the rest of them.

"I wonder what everyone will find to argue about if I don't say anything...?"

you gave the Bill O'Reilly graphic file name "Genius"

Hmmmmmmmmm....

No sir....

Bill O'Reilly and Bruce Tinsley are two halves of the same Janus hemorroid.

in FireDogs part 2, who is resposible for the drawing of the fire cheif when he suddenly sits up in bed? its absurdly funny. the way it fades into him screaming is also impressive.

WIL said...

At first, I thought Bill O'Reilly was Lyndon Johnson.

They're both such attractive men!

Matt M said...

That's what we can argue about! Whether or not Bill O'"LIElly" is a genius. I'm hoping that file name is sarcasm, because that guy's idea of a healthy debate is telling anyone who disagrees with him to shut up. If by "genius" you mean "moron," then I agree. :p

Good caricature, though.

5. Kate Hudson, Russel Crowe

John if you don't say something that causes argument, you can't make fun of us for arguing in subsequent post! The delicate balance of teh blogosphere will collapse! The price of foodstuffs will skyrocket!

Hello, Mr. K!

I've posted some of my drawings
on my newest..er..post.

Since you were kind enough
to be the first person on my blog
to comment, my first
group of drawings are of your
R+S.

Your feedback would be platinum on
a platter! Under glass.
I suppose the platter could be
platinum as well.

Your buddy,

Monnish

P.S. The celeb drawings ROCK.
If I make it one day, maybe you'll
immortalize me. :^)

Sarah Jessica Parker is way more annoying than your picture even hints at.

rebecca said...

Hey Mr K, I learned a lot from the what you wrote about caricatures, and I've been working on the cast of House, (I've been trying to draw a perfect Hugh Laurie since 04) and I posted some sketches on a House message board. The doodles, (coupled with my Ren icon) apparantly reminded scores of hybrid House/Ren and Stimpy fans of you, I ended up redirecting a bunch of people to your blog.
Anyway point being, a ton of the kids who grew up on Ren and Stimpy are now House obsessed and on your blog. Will you do a Hugh Laurie caricature?
These are what I posted-
This one, and this one.
I'm trying to loosen up. I'd really really really love some advice...

That Bill O'Reilly one made me laugh the most, even more than the first one! It's nice to see charactures of news people, and people outside normal celebreties, I would suggest doing more of those.

The first Beautiful People post, was that when you had started drawing charactures, or have you been drawing them this way for quite some time, I forget!

Stephen Colbert just put you on his "list."

Hey, John, can you let us in on some memories of working on the series "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats"? And since you're credited as a "character designer" for that show, did you have any part in creating the look for the female character Cleo?

I have no idea who any of these are. I've been doing really really well at avoiding the media!

So, on an unrelated note, here in Australia we got screwed over on the Ren and Stimpy Season 1 and 2 DVD. We didn't get the banned episode and all your commentary was taken off, presumably to keep the DVD PG. Sup with that?

Seems like this thread is up for any topic, so...

Couple a questions for John,

Who animated Stimpy spazzing out right after he gets kicked in the head by a mule (Sven Hoek episode)?

and

Did you ever see the Family Dog episode (the only animated one) of NBC's Amazing Stories back in the 80s?

I'm in LA for the weekend (all the way from Atlanta)... what is there to do for a big fan of animation? I'd love to go to the ASIFA archive Mr Worth has but I don't think it's open on the weekends.

Thanks so much!!

Hey - sorry to dump an anonymous coward post on you guys, and I dunno if John actually reads these comments - but I just found this page and I am stunned.
Ren and Stimpy was a huge staple of my childhood, and a major reason I have a huge geek for animation.
To learn you have a blog was great
To actually read it and find out you're basically dropping mad education for free is more than a mortal has any right to hope for.
Thanks John.
Thank you so much.

Wes said...

MR. K!

Have you ever heard of a comic book artist named Sam Keith? I don't know if you are interested in comic books at all, but based on my limited knowledge of your philosophies on art, I think you should check out his stuff. I'm basing most of these assumptions on the post where you talked about that Katie person. Look him up online, though, I think it's possible you would dig his art.

Wish you and your team all the best after reading your newspaper article, hope you can persuade those fools that your cartoons still want to be seen on the big screen, TV, DVD or whatever!

You have my support!!!!

I just bouth The looney Tunes Golden collection voulme 3. This is the first time I have bought these DVDs. I can't stand the fact the Whoopi Goldberg is in the intro, she basically called the cartoons racists. With exclusion of the WWII cartoons,I don't find anything racist about any of them. Cartoons are about exageration. The way they depicted black people in those cartoons are no worse when they depicted white people. By the way, I am black.

good call, pc unfunny. too bad those will never be aired on TV. Then again, i hardly ever see classic cartoons on TV anymore.

John,

Why isn't Bill Wray, Billy West, Chris Ricarddi, Bob Camp, Elinor Blake, Jim Gomez, etc. Work on the new Ren & Stimpy ?

Where they fired because they Nickelodeon took them into Games ?

I heard that Eddie Fitzgerald didn't even shake Bob Camp's hand goodbye.

Since you said that he draws like a son of a gun, why isn't he back at Spumco if he like working with you ?

Is it a dream, rule, goal, or promise that he broke at Spumco or something ?

Just curious as a fan and a historian.
