Here are some rough story sketches by me and Jim Smith. Chloe asked me for a layout tutorship, so here's a step one. 5 and 6 (George snatching the tomahawk) are 2 poses from the same scene/setup. That means they have to flip well. They can't change sizes and shape, and their feet need to be in the same spot.

From these story sketches, the idea is to do well constructed finished drawings of the characters in these poses - without toning them down.
It sounds easy, but it takes some practice. Remember, you have to already be able to draw the characters well, before you attempt doing a layout.
