Unproduced Ren and Stimpy Goodbye Bumper pt3

Now that the TV screen is cleaned up, Ren and Stimpy start saying hi to the kids at home (like the end of Romper Room - for anyone old enough to remember).

Ren uses common everyday names while Stimpy says hi to kids with goofier names.

Ren thinks Stimpy is a few pickles shy of a barrel, but he shrugs it off at first.
The more Stimpy greets kids with odder and odder names, the more irritated Ren gets . He tries to ignore it and goes back to 'normal' names.
When Stimpy greets "Blibby and Blabby" Ren loses it.
Ren hauls off and smacks Stimpy right in the puss. He accuses him of making up these crazy names.
to be continued...

Vintage Art Deco and Stylized Airbrush

I love this old approach to using airbrush. It's not trying to be photo realistic. Instead it's just using the medium to create something that's distinct unto itself.

Dell Paperbacks in the 30s and 40s used beautiful stylized airbrush paintings to instantly grab your eye at the local pharmacy or supermarket.

This approach was also used to great affect for cartoon art.

I was told "Spuma" is what voice actors use to gargle with before they do a recording session.
This one almost looks modern. (maybe it is?)

It's also a wonderful style for caricature as these Vanity Fair covers show.

And lastly, one can never get enough of Art Deco VD posters.

Unproduced Ren and Stimpy Goodbye Bumper pt2

Film grain, scratches and volcano soot on the cels make the bumper more and more dirty and hard to see.
Ren tells Stimpy, "You can clean dee crap off the screen!"
Stimpy obliges and whips out a cleaning rag.
Ren mutters: "Mebbe now we can see who'd watching us.."

the 2 soul mates peer through the wiped TV screen to stare at the audience.
